  1. What’s the point? Not sure I’m going to find a bunch of 30 somethings (well probably 40 somethings now) living boring lives particularly funny.

I have nothing really to add to this except to say that Reach Plc is shit and has ruined everything

  3. Why have original ideas, when you can just reboot existing properties endlessly and never take any chances?

    >“Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas are understood to be enthusiastic about the proposals.”

AKA some random conversation where one of them said “Hahaha yeah those times were a big ball of laughs, it would be fun to get the gang back together”

Media: OMG OMG THE INBETWEENERS ARE BACK

  5. Big fan of the show, but I don’t really see the point. The 2nd movie showed where the line was between cringe funny and sad. Having them remain the same characters in their 40s is going to be a pretty sad watch.

  6. >James Buckley has admitted that ‘there’s not enough money in the world’ that could convince him to reprise his role in the Inbetweeners. ‘It might be the only thing that I do professionally that is universally loved. There’s not enough money in the world for me to spoil that.’

I guess there was enough money after all!

  7. Simon (the character) sort of got his sequel in Fresh Meat.

I recently discovered Plebs, which is very Inbetweeners-like (stars Tom Rosenthal, who was Simon Bird’s co-star in Friday Night Dinner) set in Ancient Rome. I quite enjoyed it, first few seasons in particular.

I think this could be good, as a 30 year old I was growing up in ‘peak inbetweenwers’ and our school year was basically the same age as what was portrayed in the show, so it had great relatability. I think a series following them in older life could be a good laugh providing it’s scripted well.

It would have the same relatability as you’ve grown up and school friends have changed, either becoming more tragic or arseholes.

  9. The whole point of the tv show was seeing these school kids making fools of themselves in front of the rest of the kids. What would be the point of a new series now that’s gone? To see how they’re getting on as middle aged men with possibly families, jobs (or no jobs), and their own homes? Sounds brilliant. Oh and that was sarcasm by the way.

  10. The quality of the script would make or break this, and this writers are going to have to roll a 19 or above to not f- it up.

That one guy’s decision to never get rid of the terrible haircut is finally paying off.

Honestly I think this is a terrible idea. I loved the show, but it worked because of its moment in time. Jay would absolutely be a sex pest, Simon would be divorced twice, Neil still living at home with his dad and Will would still be a virgin and being tormented by mr Gilbert who is now his stepdad

This pretty much sums up the problem with on screen entertainment at the moment, no new ideas, just recycling the old, eventually destroying work which went out on a high.

  14. James Buckley in his podcast once said Inbetweeners these days would have to be very different as alot of the jokes wouldnt wash these days

The jokes will almost certainly be dialled back to avoid upsetting this fragile generation

I actually think this can work really well, give us an insight into what these guys are like as adults and how things played out for them.

Plus I am psyched to see more of Greg Davies as Will’s stepfather.

let’s see if the comedy lives up to expectations.. we’re living in different times now

  18. The second film was already pushing it, totally lost the charm and was way too broad, and Beesley & Morris haven’t written anything great for nearly 15 years (White Gold was okay, the First Team was crap). Add to the fact that over half the jokes from the original series would never make it past the legal teams or cultural appropriateness these days, and this could be a real stinker.

One of my faves sitcoms from my youth but really all they did was talk about ‘clunge’ and shagging, not sure how any of that translates to now and them as adults with wives and kids. I just don’t see how this could be any good.
