My apoptosis for abroad

I had made a post for the My deforestation for the army A few months ago, and the discussion below was quite interesting. Because I saw quite a few posts lately, and because I liked the discussion in the previous one, let’s say my own.

Context: I have studied Informatics at the NCSR, I worked in Greece for about two years, I served Evros and started a master’s degree in Amsterdam. So I’m a 25 -year -old I1 Dutch developer.

My thoughts from the experience so far:

• University Infrastructure: University of Amsterdam is cosmic for me, and given that the school I graduated in Greece is considered remarkable. I attend classes at Lab42. The facilities are space, the buildings are beautiful, and brand new, preserved perfectly, organized very well, and focusing on humans. That is, it has time to sit around, read, eat, etc., it has a gym/sporting center that has everything inside (there is a list of about 70 sports to choose). There is tremendous support for students in all respects. For example, "family" Doctors within university, psychologists, support groups, there is a special advisor to every program you talk about if there is a problem (illness/problem at home) to arrange the program and find solutions early, and others.
• Lessons and teachers: I believe courses are generally better organized, there is much better communication with teachers, who are much less complex than those in Greece. For example, the average Greek professor if you get out of a lesson, or some if you open a horror, here is normal here. There is a lot more interaction with teachers, it is normal in a month to know you by your name and be in first name basis. There is also a great deal of support from teaching assistants, and part of the time you are at the school is programmable before being a feedback session or corresponding support sessions. In any case, not all teachers are good, there are some who would be unacceptable for Greek.
• Companies and University: I remember at the EKPA once arranged to come to talk to us from NOKIA on a matter, and there was a loss of factions ("Outside capitalism from schools" etc). It is very common here, not just to come to talk, but to lectures in courses, and to put work based on propitiatory technologies they use in courses. In addition, part of the building (if not the largest, at least half of it) is rented to startups, and there is a second space in campus that is respectively rented to companies. In addition, university programs are running, where students take small projects that have passed the university, and are Timeboxed, that is, they tell you you will deal with it for 40 hours, we give you 1000 euros, finally, whether or not the project comes out.
• Cost: This is up to the talk, and I haven’t seen it completely because I’m studying. The supermarket is slightly more expensive, I make it for 200 euros a month, but you can also be 150-170. Eating outside is much more expensive, going out for a beer is much cheaper. Some things such as IKEA furniture is 30% in all, while Zara clothes are 10-15% above. Services such as doctors, lawyers, translators etc are extremely more expensive. The MMMs are much more expensive, and there is no ticket for everything. The houses are in God. As a conclusion, I give the month, 884 for the home, 200cm for supermarkets, 20 for metro etc, 20 for bike (I have it with subscription), 10 for phone, and then depending on how much I will go out and what other expenses I will have.
• There is tremendous support if you fulfill some cribs. If the house meets some criteria (mine meets) the state gives you half the rent. If you work 32 hours a month (and your parents don’t get over 35k a year) you get 750 euros in your hand. Security (if you need) is covered at 110% (they give you 10% to cover that security does not get). Jobs play as a cashier/waiter etc and pay honest. For example, a girlfriend went and worked a wardrobe 12 hours a SK, he got 170 euros. So life is accurate, but by working part-time you can leave money aside by studying.
• Life: Here I put everything else. The city is beautiful, it has terrible things to see and do. You have a lot of people to meet and open horizons. You know people about fun, there are extremes of many activities/organizations/groups etc to the extent that I put the events on an agenda to know what options are there. There is a nightlife, depending on what each one wants. The city is generally easy to turn it around, especially if you have a bike. The rain is crap, and it is generally raining quite a bit, but you find it. I think it is good, not to say that you do not see strange things or incidents.

Generally, if one is thinking of making a similar move, ask you about what you have a question! For me, so far, it’s worth 1000 if it’s something you want to do. Of course you can see that the country doesn’t suit you for a reason, but you don’t marry it, you can go back to Greece or go elsewhere. It is definitely a good destination if you are out for studying outside though.
