Hello. I am from Germany, I visited Bulgaria recently and absolutely loved your country. I will for sure come back.

I want to share some pictures of my hike to Musala. And maybe some infos for other travellers stumbling on this.

My journey started in Sofia. I took the bus to Samokov from Sofia South Bus Station. Then the bus to Borovets. I was surprised to see that Borovets was almost a ghost town. I guess it is off season.

My hike to the hut took me ~5h due to soft snow. I ate a sandwich there and then continued on to Musala peak, which took another 2h. I can not put it into words. It was a bit reckless because I did not have crampons. But stupidity and determination got me to the peak. The view was just mesmerizing, I can not put it into words. It sounds funny but it was so beautiful it made me tear up. I considered waiting for sunset but my feet were cold and I didn’t want to push my luck in the dark.

My night in Musala hut was lovely. Two cute cats and the caretaker was the kindest person I met in Bulgaria. There were only 4 guests staying on the hut. Me and three boys from Israel. They were on a 6-day hut trip through Rila mountains, crazy guys.

It was an amazing hike and this memory will have a special place in my heart always.
