The Ministry of Internal Affairs has fined the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Finland’s Foreign Minister, Elina Valtonen, for “illegally blocking the road”.

Elina Valtonen was on an official visit to Georgia. On October 14, she met with Bidzina Ivanishvili’s Foreign Minister, Maka Botchorishvili, and later that evening attended a protest on Rustaveli Avenue.

On October 15, Ivanishvili’s Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, canceled his scheduled meeting with Finland’s Foreign Minister. However, Valtonen later clarified on Twitter that she was the one who canceled the meeting. According to the Finnish outlet *Helsingin Sanomat*, the decision was made by the Finnish side due to changes in the schedule, and the Georgian side was notified late on the night of October 14.

Thank God the new laws haven’t been passed yet, otherwise, she could’ve faced 15 days in jail for an administrative offense 😭

  3. I never voted for them, I always hated them, I know people also didn’t voted for them and they are in power only because of russian interference into our fragile electoral system, I haven’t lived in Georgia for 8 years and haven’t even visited during past 3 years since it became an official dictatorship YET I feel so so terrible second hand embarrassment 😞
