Beautiful city but not a patch on York.

I lived here for 5 years and loved the city but had to move because it was just too expensive, London prices really. But yeah, miss it.

If it had better weather, it would be a great place to live

No thanks, I’ll take York every time

We’re blessed with a fair few great cities in the UK, but there’s only one _fine city_ imo

I lived in the New Town for a couple of years in the 90s, then moved away for a marginally better paying job in Manchester.
Probably my most significant life regret is making that move. Fucking loved it up there, and now I can’t afford to go back!

It is certainly the most beautiful. It’s one of the most beautiful in Europe

Love that place. The second shot is amazing. One of the best I’ve seen of the city. You should be really proud of that one

Aesthetically for sure. Culturally, up there, perhaps top. To actually live, Glasgow is better

I find Edinburgh to be obviously beautiful but also annoyingly touristy. I much prefer Glasgow.
I also would never live in either. I am from London but moved to Manchester a decade ago and would rather live here. If I had to move to a ‘pretty town’, it would be Oxford or York.

Edinburgh is a beautiful city with marvellous people, but the weather is ass 😅

The one day a year when the sun comes out. Now show the photo’s of what’s it’s usually like in the damp freezing rain..

Really? The best? It’s a beautiful city. But far from the best as it lacks the nightlife culture.
And living in the city during the summers is horrendous. Far too many people.

Meh. The local council invests heavily to keep the city centre really clean, gentrified and safe for the high end tourists- Americans, Canadians and Japanese. Move out a bit and you’ve got a walk on part in Trainspotting. Bit like anywhere really, you can’t compare Marylebone with the sketchier parts of Southwark.

Most beautiful maybe but too many tourists for me. Glasgow is underrated.

I lived there for 5 years when I was in the Army. Yes we used to guard the castle. Honestly I prefer it here in Durham.

I wouldn’t say the best, but definitely one of the most beautiful – Harry Potterland. Some building could do with a bit of a scrub tbh. The black stain is like everywhere.

Aesthetically maybe , but I prefer Manchester and Nottingham for a night out. Closely followed by Newcastle

I’m gonna shout out Manchester, you’re pretty much an hour or so from everything that’s worthwhile except London – lakes, coast, pennies, peaks, York, Wales, Chester etc all a very easy day trip away, even the south of Scotland is easily drive able

Lived in London my life and was convinced this was the best city after traveling to many places in England and Wales but staying in Edinburgh for a few days completely changed my mind. Far and beyond the most beautiful city I’ve seen in the UK.

Taking my Canadian ex (who is also a massive Harry Potter fan) to Victoria St blew her mind.

Not for long if the Scottish get their way / the English keep curb stomping the other countries in the union instead of treating them as equal partners.
