  1. If you count any proper beer and not the average Dahls that is served, Norway can easily make it first

Doha, Dubai and Muscat. It’s expensive and shit.

In Norway, it’s expensive but local and not bad.

This is for a 0.4 I guess as pint is just under 0.5. I wonder if they normalised the prices as if the quantity equalled that of a pint

  4. Thats one thing I miss about Germany, there beer is cheaper than most bottled water. (If you are one of the weirdos that buys bottled water).

You can just buy a crate of beer and have it in your basement, in Norway that would cost you a kidney, your grandmothers silverware and your firstborn son.

  5. According to this article, a pint of beer costs on average £6.83 in London and £8 in Norway. So people in Norway may save £1.17 (= NOK 15.85) for each pint they buy on vacation in London.

On the other hand, hotels in central London are often more expensive that hotels in central areas in Norwegian cities, and breakfast is not included.

Antananarivo, Madagascar, apparently has inexpensive beer, 68p for one pint. On the other hand: expensive to get there from Europe, local poverty and political instability: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/oct/17/gen-z-victory-young-protesters-toppled-madagascar-leader

Luckily the exchange rate is at a historical high range for the GBP, It’s currently 13.5kr to £1.

Miss the days when it was 10-9kr to £1, visiting friends in the UK is too expensive.

5th* OP you should read everything in each and everything you share/post. It states that Doha in quatar is priciest. The list is 2nd to 5th place, not 1st to 4th.

It’s not like I wanna be a dck I just think people ought to know what they’re sharing. Although harmless in this case, I believe in having a principle

  8. 8 quid for a pint? What kinda dump do you have to enter to get that?

    More like 10 for a 0.5l

  9. I go out in oslo quite frequently. I would argue that avg prices in oslo (unless you target cheaper places specifically) is around 150nok or £11.13 respectively. Go to a festival or any event and it will be closer to 200nok/£14.84.

I’ve stopped looking at what they cost and immediately go into fetal position the day after and also weep when i check my bank account.

A disgrace we are not at the top of the world in this. Jesus Gahr Støre needs to fix this with an emergency tax immediately.

  11. Yes. Very expensive and the type of beers are not good. Aass is ok, Ringnes is so so (it is not Norse anymore. It is Carlsberg).

  12. If you pay for beer outside in norway it usually cost 120 kr. But there is places that sell it for 40-60 kr. Also if you pay in a food store its Even cheaper. Around 37 kr.

  13. I wonder whether Canada would be on that list if tipping practices were included in the price. Presumably the added-tax already is. Unsure.

For those who don’t know, the listed price in Canada and the US is not the full price. Tax and tip are added afterwards.

Spent a couple of days in Prague, where I could enjoy beer all evening and pay 200 NOK at the end of the night. Came home, spent a night at a hotel by Oslo airport because of delays, and paid 220 NOK for *one single beer*. I wanted to cry.

There is a point to raise that a pint is 568ml whereas in Norway the prices are often for 500ml or even the shocking 400ml beers… Which I’ve paid easily paid between 115-155kr for…

  16. It’s not a complete coincidence that the price and taxes on beer was regulated by a christian, conservative majority as a “attitude-cultivating” legislation package. Competing all the way up there with Islamic theocracies. Mission accomplished.
