  1. This is ugly data. The smooth lines make it look continuous when it’s not, there are only 5 discrete data points per graph.

  2. This is why you use a bar, not a line graph. Looks like Facebook early on and you can’t pinpoint the actual answer for each age group.

  3. I find it hard to believe that 70% of men *regularly* use Instagram. Or that 80% of 30-year-olds *regularly* use Facebook. “Have an account”, maybe.

  4. so they’re all down except for Facebook?

i think i’m too much of a moron to get this graph

  5. The Tiktok one is so crazy. I’m 20 and a woman and my classmates genuinely get confused when I say I don’t use it 😭

  6. I could be wrong, but I suspect the twitter gender gap is due to how right wing twitter is now, but it’s interesting that that the narrowest gap is with 16 – 20 year olds. Though I guess it does rise with women as the age goes up, just interesting that the gap grows.

  7. As a 41m I take offense to this chart.

At first I was like “Wtf is Threads and Bluesky”… and then I realized I wasn’t even included in the demographic.

    Touche.

  8. This should really be a bar chart. Line implies a trend over time, and this doesn’t seem to be providing a change in trend over decades.

Other than that nitpick, thanks for sharing, and it’s interesting to see the differences between generations.
