Teacher Neşe was born in Şarköy, Tekirdağ, in 1972, as the youngest daughter of the Alten family. He wanted to be a teacher. After primary and secondary school education, he entered Sinop Teacher High School and then Bursa Uludağ University Faculty of Education. He graduated in 1993 as a young teacher candidate at the age of twenty-one. On July 2, 1993, he was appointed to Çavuşlu Village Primary School in Bismil district of Diyarbakır. Even though her family insisted that she not go when she was appointed to Bismil, Teacher Neşe said, “I will go wherever my flag flies.” he said. His father said, “I won’t send you alone.” When he said that, they went together to Çavuşlu village of Bismil, where he was appointed as a teacher.
As soon as he reached Çavuşlu Village, he went to the school where he would work. The condition of the school was deplorable. He talked to the village headman and the village elders and asked for help to eliminate the deficiencies, repair the classroom, and turn the school into a school. He just told them to find a master and that he would cover the expenses. He gave most of his first salary to the masters and went into debt with the rest. He turned the ruined building into a school where his students could study with his own means.
On the evening of October 26, 1993, PKK terrorists opened the door of the house where Teacher Neşe lived with her father, saying: “Open, we are from the village. We will ask Ms. Hodja something.” They rang saying: When the young teacher and his father opened the door, they found armed terrorists. One of the PKK members asked his father, “Didn’t we make a statement to the public? Didn’t we say that we would not allow any teacher of the Republic of Turkey to enter Kurdistan?” He hit him and knocked him to the ground. And in front of his daughter’s eyes, he put his gun to the old man’s temple and fired. They dragged Teacher Neşe to the exit of the village. They brutally murdered Neşe Alten, a teacher who had been working for 25 days, by first firing 5 bullets into her left chest and then 5 bullets into her right chest.
