Georgia’s ruling party, Georgian Dream, has appealed to the Constitutional Court to ban three major opposition parties — **United National Movement** (UNM), **Ahali**, and **Lelo** — accusing them of trying to overthrow the constitutional order and undermine Georgia’s territorial integrity.
In his legal justification, Speaker Shalva Papuashvili cited the UNM’s human rights record, its role in the 2008 August War, the opposition’s election boycotts, and alleged “support of foreign forces” in weakening Georgia’s independence.
The ruling party also hinted that smaller parties such as *Droa*, *Girchi – More Freedom*, *Yes to Europe*, *Strategy Aghmashenebeli*, *European Georgia*, *Federalist Party*, and the *Republican Party of Georgia* could face bans in the future, though for now, GD says they’re “too small” to matter.
Meanwhile, *For Georgia*, the fourth large opposition party led by ex-PM, avoided the list by ending its boycott and joining parliamet.
I’m not an expert in politics but as a Russian citizen I think that they go down a similar route to United Russia which is a bad thing… yeah.
It’s sad to see what happens to Georgia

Looks like the younger generation has to learn russian again. Next step will be Russian as official language like in Belarus and joining the union state. A sad day for Georgia
