TKG’s statement on the attack in Hacettepe

We will not leave our campuses or our country to fascist gangs fed by NATO!

These days, when the search for rights in universities and objections to cafeteria fees and unqualified dormitories are on the rise, NATO-backed idealist fascist gangs are emerging once again to fulfill the task given to them by the masters of the capital order.

Since the beginning of the academic year, we have been witnessing attacks on students by fascist gangs in many different universities. It is clear that the machete-wielding gangs seen at Hacettepe University yesterday and the ongoing attacks at the Faculty of Languages, History and Geography are not isolated incidents, but that we are faced with a systematic intervention supported by the university rectorates and the law enforcement forces of the government.

On the one hand, the AKP-MHP government is trying to serve the regional plans of the US and British imperialism with great enthusiasm. On the other hand, they want the whole of Türkiye to be captured by the Neo-Ottomanist dreams into which they dragged our country. The political judicial operations carried out for this purpose and the pressure on the media are accompanied by the strengthening of idealist fascist gangs in universities.

They are trying to stop the ongoing political blockade of universities and the obstacles to students’ search for their rights from being eroded day by day, with the attacks of gangs.

While the unlimited plunder of the conglomerates continues, students will remain silent about exorbitantly priced wormy meals and accommodation in inhumane conditions (!) While everything in the name of the Republic is eliminated and our country is governed with full-scale submission to imperialism, young people will not question NATO and the imperialist siege (!) These dreams of theirs have no reality.

Idealist fascist gangs, trained in CIA camps, fed by NATO, and famous for the drug barons they trained, were defeated many times in our history by the organized struggle of revolutionary students.

The government support they have behind them today will be defeated by the coming together of revolutionary, republican, independence-supporting students.

We share our solidarity wishes with all our friends who were injured in the attacks. Hacettepe University students who are detained should be released immediately!
