I just received this text, but I don’t have any accounts with them and haven’t opened one either. The message looks legitimate since the number and website appear genuine. I called the company, and they confirmed it’s a scam. Has this happened to anyone else?

This is most likely a phishing scam, where the scammer impersonates trusted sources. Scams like this seem to be becoming more frequent. Remember, if a bank needs you to update information they will call you to a branch, not via a link.
That link is clearly not legitimate.
Its funny, the number is legitimate but the link is definitely not
1000% a scam. Especially as you don’t even bank with them. Always assume anything you get from your bank is fake and call them. Never, ever, ever, click on a link in a text message.

My dad received the same and has never had any HSBC account.
Website is not genuine. The domain is not hsbc.com.mt
Number title can be anything they want to register and your device will just display it
