I’m sure everybody had the same initial thought when reading this.

These headline writers know what they’re doing.

  2. >Hospital scans revealed a fracture to the victim’s eye socket and in a statement he told the court he had been left with long-term pain and vision problems.

Honestly the doctor in question should be struck off.

This is an excerpt from an article from 2024 which has more details on the incident:

[*Newcastle Crown Court*](https://www.mirror.co.uk/all-about/crown-court) *heard the waiter suffered a “huge amount of pain” and has been left with a visible dent to his forehead, which is too risky to operate on.*

It’s crazy how hard it is to get struck off as a doctor. It seems like anything short of murdering someone is allowed.

    >Judge Mallett added: “I can only conclude your behaviour on this night was out of character.”

    Out of character lol

    >The court heard the doctor, of Bowburn, County Durham, has a previous conviction for common assault in 2001 and was cautioned for criminal damage in 2007.

  5. Wow speaking as a doctor I’m amazed this guy didn’t get struck off permanently. Sounds like a violent drunk who has no place seeing patients imo.

  6. He had previous convictions and he left the poor waiter with long term damage to his eye. Let’s face it, the only reason he wasn’t considered a threat to public safety is because he has a nice professional job, which he will walk back into in 12 months time.

  7. Ordered to pay £2000 compensation? If that had been me that had been assaulted, I would be wanting much more than that to feel.like I had be compensated.

According to the GMC register, this guy is a gynaecologist also.

Graduated from a university in Lithuania in 2011.

Jesus Christ. He should be struck off, frankly. Disgusting behaviour.

I initially read this as Doctor Who headbutted waiter. I was wondering which one.
