There was more divergence on policy at the 2022 Tory leadership election campaign than there is between the 2 front runners in this GE campaign.

This “defection” is as notable as someone switching support from Sunak to Truss in July ‘22.

I have a feeling we are going to see a lot of the tories who have left since 2022 come out and say endorse/back Labour to trounce Toriew

I’m sure this has nothing to do with his majority of 378 at the last election.

Centrists need to realise this: it is *not good* if a Tory backs Labour. What Labour should stand for is anathema to what Tories believe in. The amount of Tory defections and endorsements like this just goes to show how much that line has been blurred. There really is no fundamental difference between the two parties in this election.

Of course remember that all the tory scum who have created the state of the country are more than welcome in the Labour Party, but long time left leaning members are not.

      Says a lot to me.

This was the one rumoured to be defecting just before election was called. They may have missed the impact by waiting too long.

    7. If he really felt that way, why not do this after selection?

He just wants to keep his job.

Square one would be pretty good right now.

    9. It just goes to show that this isn’t about their politics or their convictions with these creatures, it’s about holding onto by power for as long as possible by any means necessary. If the Green Party were predicted to win I expect we’d see a load of them coming out as steadfast environmentalists.
