There was no ‘HS2 Cash’ it was loans took out at low interest rate.

We are now paying for day to day maintenance with long term bonds these holes are now going to be paid for by our kids kids by which time they will have been patched and repatched many times over

“Money for the North” my ass. Suppose it was to be expected when you look at everything else they’ve promised the North that’s never materialised though.

      >Local authorities receiving cash theoretically reallocated from HS2 are required by the government to publicly acknowledge the funding, so Southwark Council this week quietly [published a notice](https://www.southwark.gov.uk/news/2024/may/southwark-s-dale-road-and-rolls-road-resurfacing-works-have-been-made-possible-by-hs2-funding?ref=se1.news) to say it had received £189,000 from this Department for Transport fund.

The government thought this would be a vote winner and wanted it publicised.

      Let that sink in.

    4. The epidemic of potholes is caused by a lack of routine maintenance, mainly to do with making sure drains are cleared and surface damage quickly repaired to keep the subbase from becoming waterlogged and introducing voids.

Fixing the potholes without addressing the damaged subbase is just burning the cash, the potholes will be back within a couple of years.

I would just like to refer everyone to this speech by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak

      >“We inherited a bunch of formulas from Labour that shoved all the funding into deprived urban areas and that needed to be undone. I started the work of undoing that.”

This is what voting for the Tories gets. This is what voting against Labour gets. Someone who nakedly admits to fucking over deprived communities

    6. We gave them the industrial revolution. In return we got some old pacer trains they didn’t want anymore.

    7. Cancelling HS2 has been one of the most stupidest decisions this country has made in recent times.
