Oh, so first we were slowing, then accelerating, and now we’re slowing again.

Or were we at one point neither slowing nor accelerating, but just kind of on cosmic cruise control? Maybe it’s adaptive cosmic cruise control, and that’s why we slow down and speed up.

I am not sure about this work but the guardians assertion that DESI’s results support this work are wrong. DESI found that the amount of acceleration is slowing down, but still very much measures an accelerated expansion…

  3. Less than 200 years ago doctors believed they couldn’t possibly have dirty hands because they were gentlemen so they didn’t wash their hands. They’d go from doing an autopsy to doing a live birth. The mom would die from blood poisoning and the doctors would say it was an act of God or black humors instead of yellow or whatever bullshit they wanted to come up with because *we fundamentally do not know what we don’t know*. That is the heart of true science, that is the “hypo” in hypothesis, it is the humility to admit you don’t actually know something and then to proceed… not to ever ever ever say “science says” or “science suggests” that is the profit seeking journalistic model talking not science. Not ever.

But if your job is selling certainty, even false certainty… you can’t just say “yeah we have no idea lol” and that is why the internet is a terrible place to learn scientific based information. There is no incentive to tell the truth only:

Holy shit the interstellar comet moved weird! Aliens?
