  1. * poland is noticeably missing from this graph and they have always been *way* *way* up there in coal usage.

    * number of power plants is not the correct metric, number of GW is. Some countries have lots of smaller power plants, some a few big ones.

    honestly, this smacks more of political posturing than actual beautiful data.

    A stupid metric. You need to be looking at produced energy or production capacity.

  3. In the energy mix their contribution is significantly humbler, producing max. 10% out of the total yield of the country.

  4. I live in Australia and am unaware of any plans to build any new coal power stations. This page lists 3 as in pre construction. I think this is simply wrong.

    There have been moves to accelerate and decelerate the closure of existing plants based on the availability of wind, solar and batteries.
