  1. That’s a great number, it’s good we’re finally (albeit slowly) getting infrastructure, although 86,000 chargers to 34,000,000 cars is nowhere near enough if we are to go fully electric in a few years

  2. Really should just be as simple as telling BP, Shell, and whoever else owns the petrol stations they need to have at least 50% of their capacity in each station be for electric cars by then end of 2026, and then at least 95% by 2028 (or whenever the date for full electric is).

If they don’t, give them significant fines per station per month or close down the non compliant petrol stations.

We shouldn’t pay for it either, let them use those billions they keep paying to shareholders every quarter to fund it.

  3. abracadabrabeef on

55p a kwh is a piss take though.

Cost me 14 quid to recharge my hybrid in public for 62 miles. Cheaper to use petrol engine instead.

  4. We are significantly behind counties like the Netherlands and Belgium, where there were literally everywhere. Small or large businesses, dedicated EV lay-bys, service stations, industrial estates – you name it; there was an EV charger and fast ones too.

  5. I think the comments on this sub are on the right track. Yes, we need lots of fast chargers, but that is not the only solution. We have done 3k miles in our EV, and we have used rapid chargers twice. Most other places now are installing up to 22kw, which is perfect if you are staying somewhere for two hours or more.
