  1. Interesting that there are so many males. There are some studies that show that the sex of the child isn’t 50/50 and a tendency to one sex can be passed down in a family’s DNA. Do you think your family is more likely to have boys?

    I’d suspect sex-selective abortion but that wasn’t scientifically possible in 1853.

    Also interesting that the men generally live longer. On average, worldwide women live ~5 years longer than men. I’d be interested to see where your family lived and what historical events they lived through.

    It took me a really long time to understand that by year, it means their respective birth year. For some reason my brain assumed this was how old the oldest member at that time came to be by the time they died that year. The footnote about the living relative made me realize.
