This is a total long shot, but we visited in August, and one of the few souvenirs we purchased was a mug at the aquarium in Alesund. My sweet, sentimental partner accidentally broke it the other day and is super bummed. On the off chance anyone’s visiting the aquarium, they still have these mugs, and would be willing to ship to the US, I’d obviously reimburse for the item, shipping, and your troubles. I’ve tried Googling, reverse image, and the aquarium website with no luck, so here I am hoping for a miracle.

  1. (A point of information: currently, it’s difficult to impossible for private persons to send small items to the U.S., because of new U.S. import tarrifs. This will change from January 1, when new systems for charging and collecting U.S. import tarrifs, as well as processing fees, are will come into effect.

«Suspension of postal deliveries to the USA lifted from 1 January

From 1 January, Posten will resume the previously suspended postal deliveries to the USA. We are launching a new service for sending goods in letters and parcels that complies with the requirements set by the American authorities. For you as a customer, this means that – in addition to postage and any customs duties – there will be a fee for import processing and a disbursement commission for customs charges. Payment of these fees will be made digitally via Posten’s website.“)

  2. Have you tried contacting the aquarium, maybe they can help you or at least tell you where they source the mugs from?

  3. Ask on a local FB group for Ålesund? Not impossible someone is willing and able to take a stroll over and fetch one. Now, to get it shipped to USA is going to be a bit of an adventure, but not impossible.

Have you tried sending them an e-mail, or calling? Atlanterhavsparken Ålesund is the name I presume

If you got the broken pieces I would just fix the mug with the appropriate glue. I done it with several mugs and they have lasted really well.

Dm me during Christmas times and ask if I am going there when I am home for Christmas. (If it isn’t sorted out before that)
