It’s not even worth talking about anymore, climate change is accelerating and will keep doing so because billionaires and multi millionaires only care about getting richer at the cost of *everything*.

COP is a joke and has been for a long time, every year, spend a fortune getting together to work out what needs to be done, sign up to do half of what’s needed and in reality, not even do half of that, rise and repeat and now many of the worst polluters don’t even turn up now. Fossil fuel companies have control or strong influence in any government or organisation of any importance.

Our species is utterly fucked and nothing will stop it now as we decided that self-annihilation is the best choice , rather than not making the rich endlessly rich.

    Good job, people.

  2. The whole ‘strategy’ is still just hoping some magical technology that will fix all issues immediately will come along in the next few years. Meanwhile, 90% of the U.S. economy is going into AI data centres which goes in the exact other direction ecologically speaking, and Switzerland (including the national bank) are heavily investing in this rather than green technologies.

  3. World and the small poor people have bigger problems than the climate at the moment. Thats the way the cookie crumbles.

  4. Meanwhile, “Ortsbildschutz” is more important than putting solar panels on a roof in a tasteful way, while a massive rockslide from a melting glacier started just 9 km away as the crow flies…

Have you any real world solutions? I feel everyone just virtue signals about climate change.
Assuming current climate change is man made, then the only real solution is to reduce our world population and consumption. Moving dirty production to third work countries and acting all holy in the west is the other thing that grinds me.

Recently, I asked a jumped up environment protester why they are not Vegan, and he got passive-aggressive.

    >*Yes, going vegan can significantly reduce global warming by lowering your carbon footprint, as plant-based diets have a much lower environmental impact than meat-heavy diets*

Frankly, I don’t care about anything any more.

Certainly, with the massive immigration of recent years continuing, resulting in increasingly congested roads and less green space to make way for more buildings, the situation can only improve 😏

  7. I think (some) people do have illusions that govts globally are doing enough to be climate neutral by 2050…

That’s totally false and probably even impossible. Take China, global leader in renewables And nuclear deployments… They still plan to expand both coal and even more so – gas. To think that in 25y years these newish assets will magically be stopped/dismantled is naive.

Even if coal would peak in about 2030s for China, it’ll take a lot of years to reduce it to meaningful levels… Renewables do barely meet their demand rise and with new policies (less subsidies, discouraging price cannibalization), it could take even longer…

For nuclear it’s no different – even if they are global leaders now, their per capita deployment is well below what France pulled in the past during Messmer or what Sweden did with their buildout.

And that’s China, the rest of Asia will likely expand both coal and gas generation just as much if not more. Higher demand will push exploration for new deposits that were unprofitable before…

Things are aggravated by environmentalists that block expansion of hydro dams, or transmission lines, especially in nimby areas.

Imo the keyword for next decades will be adaptation to whatever comes because things are moving very slow if at all

Climate targets are impossible with current demographic trends. We need more and more resources, not less and less

I saw there was a possible green initiated referendum to make solar panels compulsory (on new builds, and old builds?).

    [https://lenews.ch/2025/11/07/swiss-greens-vote-on-compulsory-solar-panels-clears-signature-hurdle/](https://lenews.ch/2025/11/07/swiss-greens-vote-on-compulsory-solar-panels-clears-signature-hurdle/)

We installed solar panels on our place a few years back – managed to get it all for something like 50k. That was after getting some quotes of 90k. What was the cash back from government? About 5k. Yeah, this is totally affordable.
