Just like the Olympics, leap years and US presidents, after 4 years the least requested column of r/italy.
As I explained in the first edition I have a certain interest in maps in general, with a particular fetish for those that show things in real time. In the 4 years since the last post I have discovered other interesting sites and I’m sure you have too. So it’s time to do a recall, updating and cleaning the list. Please come forward with suggestions for integration.
Real-time maps
- Flightradar24: Real-time position of most aircraft in flight. It’s there too ADS-B exchangeis open source and therefore it is possible to identify any planes asking to be censored. Thanks to u/ts737
- Marine traffic – Vessel finder: Real-time position of ships and other vessels.
- Ventusky – Windy – earth.nullschool meteorological parameters (wind, temperatures, pressure, sea conditions, pollution…)
- Satellite map: Position of satellites and other bodies orbiting the earth, seen "from outside". For recognizing satellites from the ground there are other tools such as the Heavens Above app.
- Lightningmaps – Lightning detection: lightning
- Earthquakes: there are really a lot of them, this site is just an example
- Bushfire: fires in Australia and North America
- Liveuamap: fronts of the wars currently underway.
- Trunk Road Gritter Tracker: who has never wanted to monitor the movements of Scottish salt spreaders? No? Well I don’t care, now monitor them. At one time it even showed the names of the vehicles, which were wonderful. I don’t know why they removed them, a real shame.
- Live Tube Map location of trains in the London Underground. Very specific but interesting.

- Cartography from the Ministry of the Environment, with various thematic maps Local geoportals: check the areas dedicated to the territory on the website of your municipality and region. Searching the geoportal nomeregione / nomecomune (at least for cities) should reveal what I’m talking about. They contain the most varied thematic maps. Example: Liguria geoportal e

Come gentlemen and propose your maps! I will do everything possible to update the list with your proposals. Dutiful note on Openstreetmap(OSM for friends). It is the wikipedia of maps, a free site with a freely licensed database. We love him! It is used more than you think, for example by various GPS tracking apps (such as Strava, Komoot, …), and contributing to add or update information is very easy. Furthermore, many of the maps listed here are not only based on OSM, but are actually made by appropriately “filtering” its database with the data of interest. If something is represented on OSM with its own specific category, then most likely there is a site based on OMS database that maps that category of objects. Some random examples just to explain: you can find a map of high voltage distribution linesfrom the benchesof the
rivers
etc… Obviously I avoided doing a systematic search of all the maps that can be found, but know that there is this incredible amount of information at your service. [FIRMS By Nasa](https://firms.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/map/#d:24hrs;@16.9,13.7,2.6z) mappa live che monitora incendi e anomalie termiche. Al momento non è aggiornata credo causa shutdown o mancanza di fondi.
[OpenAIP](https://www.openaip.net/) mappa degli spazi aerei in tutto il mondo
[ADS-B exchange](https://globe.adsbexchange.com/) come flightradar24 ma open source, quindi è possibile identificare eventuali aerei che chiedono di essere censurati da FR24 come l’A319 del governo

Non so se coerente, ma su heavens-above.com si può osservare la posizione della stazione spaziale internazionale.
Vi sono inoltre varie viste del cielo con pianeti, costellazioni, missioni di sonde ecc.
La mappa delle linee di distribuzione ad alta tensione è meravigliosa.

FR24 è stata la prima che abbia mai usato,e quella che uso più spesso. Pensa l’ho usata addirittura mentre ero ad un appuntamento con una ragazza (lei fortunatamente ci ha riso e ha detto che sono carino anche quando sono autistico),consiglio anche ADS-B Exchange per fare cross-referencing dato che spesso vari aerei (quasi sempre militari) su FR24 non compaiono ma su ADS-B si
Vesselfinder è stata la seconda,la uso molto di meno anche perché tante navi non possono essere identificate o l’ultima volta che sono state identificate è tipo un secolo fa’
Windy la uso come app meteo sul telefono! Molto utile anche qui per fare cross-referencing con altre app del meteo e ha così tanti livelli che spesso non so mai quale scegliere (il mio preferito ovviamente è satellite con il radar meteo accorpato)
Non è una mappa ma per aggiungere sul tuo commento su openstreetmaps, l’app per smartphone streetcomplete : modo semplice per collaborare alle migliorie delle mappe openstreetmap. Esiste anche sito per pc ma ora non l’ho sottomano.
Estensione per Chrome e Firefox per accedere a spalancate di mappe: openswitchmaps (nel link dell’estrazione su github info sullo sviluppo)
Come funziona: cercate un luogo su una mappa (Google maps, openstreetmap, altro), selezionare l’estensione e dall’elenco di mappe scegliete quella che vi interessa, e verrete inviati alla stessa location nella mappa selezionata.
Io come hub delle mappe generiche uso [Geohack](https://geohack.toolforge.org/geohack.php?params=45_28_01_N_09_11_24_E), che viene usato da wikipedia, genera dei link puntuali ai vari strumenti partendo dalle coordinate.

Post pazzesco, me lo salvo subito. Comunque se non l’hanno già detto: Open infrastructure Map che censisce linee elettriche, tralicci, campi fotovoltaici, generatori eolici. Più tardi quando non sono a lavoro vedo se posso aggiungere qualcos altro

Per quanto riguarda le mappe storiche un’altra fonte interessante sono gli archivi di stato, anche se la digitalizzazione è un po’ a macchie di leopardo.
