  1. Record 1,120 Gang Leaders Charged as County Lines Cracked Down and Knife Crime Injuries fall

British communities are seeing real progress against county lines gangs thanks to the government’s targeted programme. In the past year alone:

    * **1,120 senior gang members charged** for county lines offences.
    * **2,300 deal lines closed**, disrupting drug supply networks.
    * **Hospitalizations for knife-related injuries reduced by almost 20%** in the hardest‑hit areas, according to independent analysis by the London School of Economics. (see comments for details)

The crackdown has been powered by investment in technology (like automatic number plate recognition), focused policing of transport hubs, and £43 million in funding for the County Lines Programme.

Do you think tougher new offences will be enough to tackle gangs exploiting children, or should more focus go on prevention and community support? What kind of support would work best?

  2. This is so poor. But poor performance and/or comms seems to be their thing. There’s no comparison data and the “record” could be because they’ve created a new category to break a record in. Do they think they deserve credit for this? From the very limited information, I could just as easily argue that the only reason more of them have been caught is because the situation is worse than ever and there’s more to be caught.

How are they defining “senior” gang leaders?

What about non-leaders? Did they break any records there? Obviously not otherwise we’d be hearing about it

What steps did they take to increase the amount of arrests? What has labour done to deserve credit for this? Or is it similar to how they’re trying to take credit for the “reduction” in migration (which were due to policies Sunak implimented on his way out)?

I don’t trust labour one bit and this article reeks of twisted statistics.

Another win for Labour, showing they’re the true party of law and order.

That said, there’s record numbers of people who support, at the very least, decriminalisation of drugs – if not outright legalisation.

We used to have a tiny number of heroin users in this country, all under doctor supervision. It was legal and doctors could provide it to dependent users. It was the British System and it *worked*.

That number has exploded since prohibition. Drug users are not criminals and criminalising them only provides a lucrative market for these county lines gangs to exploit and get extremely well funded from.

    Good.

When drug dealers are one of the largest culprits when it comes to grooming gangs.

They literally groom children. And for some reason there’s always a lot of people who are happy to ignore the problem because they want to buy some weed.

  5. These threads get absolutely no traction on here, and yet every other thread about politics is full of “wHaT hAvE tEh GoVt DoNe”. The only news some people seem able to engage with it bad news.

  6. Ok let’s try this again.

    1. What have labour done to increase this number?

    2. How are they defining “senior” gang leaders? Has this always been a tracked statistic and if so what were the numbers in other years?

    3. Is this a result of any labour policies or is it just that there’s more drug dealers than ever before, so naturally the amount has increased?

I hope none of the above amounted to a personal attack! I sincerely can’t understand why it would.
