I just moved into a studio and this is the bed. It’s two 10cm Ikea ‘mattresses’ on a daybed. They are made of wires and are mostly hollow. Even after just one week, the wires are bending out of shape. These things have 0 support. I’ve only been able to sleep a couple of hours each night. Would it be unreasonable to ask my landlord for a different option? I know sofa beds are common, I would take a supportive sofa over this flimsy ‘double bed’ any day.

    1. Or buy a proper mattress if there are matching sizes. Might be easier than convincing landlord to get rid of “new” bed.

    2. Holy shit I have an identical sofa bed in my apartment I’m renting 😀 . I only bought an additionall mattress for it.

Honestly it’s pretty comfy to sleep on, if you can what I did:

      – Open the sofa to the max and keep it open all the time. Make sure the planks are distributed evenly.

      – Buy a comfy soft perfect for you IKEA double mattress. Put it on top of the old mattress in this sofa.

Personally I love it, think it’s very soft.

    3. I have this exact bed. Just get a single mattress and don’t open the bed if you’re not using it. Should work even for an aThLeTiC TaLL wOmAn

    4. Couple of hours through week it’s hard but through night it is well slept one 😉 I guess the landlord won’t be interested how was your night.

We have the exact day bed. Ikea sells nicer mattresses that are really comfortable and fit this bed. I would look into it.

Before I started reading comments I was thinking “this must be some IKEA thing shit”. Of course.

    7. The problem is mattress not bed. We have an identical bed but with super good single mattress.

    8. When I was living in Germany, this “bed” lasted only few nights before collapsing under my weight (105 kg). I had to go to a Bauhaus, buy some parts and fix this abomination of a bed (flawed design).

Lmao I actually have the same ikea bed. 2 adults and my 4 year old sleep in it. No issues

    10. Land lord will not give a f*uck. He provided you with bed and there is the bed. If you do not like it then buy yourself another mattress. Just remember that if in your agreement there is stated that apartment was provided with bed and mattress and you have you leave it with bed and mattress.

Buy a better mattress, hide the ones that are there and take them out when you move out, the bes itself is fine.

    12. these are pretty good imo, i sleep on worse but back pain is bad but you can also try to sleep on floor, it also works.

I used to have one of these but specifically the big one from IKEA. The one that’s over 2 meters long and unfolds to be almost 2 meters wide, it was quite comfortable and very good for a tall guy like me.

I know this exact model, this is for kids only!! The mattress is way too soft to support an adult. You’ll get bent out of shape. Yes get a new one this is garbage unless you weigh 20kgs

    15. I slept most of my teenage years on this bed, it’s fine. If it’s uncomfortable it’s the mattress.
