Trump losing a defamation lawsuit to the BBC would be a unexpected bonus for 2026. Donald,  *Turn the Volume Up!!!!*

Everything that comes out of his mouth is a lie.

Yes ,the BBC was 100% wrong but it’s his bread and butter day in and day out.

    Very hypocritical.

he’ll make as much noise about this as possible, probably invent some other “crisis” affecting the american people, trying to distract from the epstein stuff.

I’d be interested to hear from a lawyer about the distinction between making someone’s speech mean something it didn’t, and a cut which made no material difference to the meaning.

The transcript of the speech is available online and the meaning is clear. Both from his own words, and from the outcome.

For the trolls and Trump apologists, to be clear, I don’t support edits which might change meaning.

“How dare you make me look insane, I demand one billion dollars!” So apparently we’re at _’Dr Evil ransom money’_ levels of parody now

    Trump rules.

I love Trump, the NHS, Dungeons and Dragons and Paddington Bear. In that order.

  7. JackStrawWitchita on

He loves portraying himself as a victim and will milk this for everything it’s worth.

Plus, it’s yet another distraction from the Epstein files (and emails) he is desperately seeking.

  8. Yes, the BBC was in the wrong and they shouldn’t have done it. But, how has it caused him any financial, reputational or any other type of damage?

  9. FrostySquirrel820 on

I’m glad the BBC have apologised but seem prepared to fight his money-grabbing attempt .

    I half wish they’d offered him £ 1 .00 in compensation though.

  10. Let him claim victory and be done with it…

But if he keeps going, let’s fight back showing that the edit did not change the substance of the speech: I’d love to see a British court rule that Trump indeed called for an insurrection therefore he cannot claim any defamation

  11. These articles are worse than football transfer news.

What’s next, “Trump team preparing response”?

  12. The Donald unwittingly directed a mob that was chanting ‘hang Mike Pence’, a chant he didn’t take issue with, to the Capitol where Mike Pence was overseeing the peaceful transfer of power. The Donald was in no way supportive of what happened that day or those who perpetrated it directly, which is why he pardoned them when he was reelected. The Donald’s good name has been dragged through the mud like you wouldn’t believe, folks. Poor Donald.

  13. All the BBC have to do is comeback with “The BBC do NOT negotiate with pedophiles.” and they never have to talk about it again.

  14. Set to respond as in make some intelligible, coherent and logical response? I assume it’ll be the ramblings of a clearly deranged, unwell and criminal with obvious brain rot deflecting his own issues, given the Epstein files are getting a big release next week.

He’s got nothing useful to say. Having to watch a grown, senile man throw his gold-leaf toys out of his pram is pathetic, and embarrassing to see on a national stage.

  15. Threatening media companies has worked for him in the past – so I expect he will double down.

    Sanctions on BBC incoming!

  16. Yeah, they should respond by showing all the emails that have been dropped. Mainly the one about him blowing Clinton, let’s see if he’d want to take that one to court

  17. All of these comments are just shitting on how stupid Trump is. Whilst I agree, the BBC took separate parts of the same speech and spliced them together to further their own agenda. It’s wrong and regardless of who they did it to, it’s a misrepresentation of what was said.

They really need to be held accountable to some degree, but of course these demands are ludicrous.

  18. FamousInMyFrontRoom on

I appreciate the irony of commenting on this, but why is this news? “Trump set to respond” let us know when he actually does something (most likely a temper tantrum)

  19. IlIIIllIIlIlllII on

The guy lies about everything everyday and is running a mafia state government of do what I want or else

And everyone is too scared to stand up to him

  20. The BBC should refer to him as a convicted rapist and alleged paedophile, let’s see him sue that

  21. the6thReplicant on

He’s going to make even the Murdoch press support the BBC. Keep up the good work Trump. People hate you more than the BBC.

  22. I think the BBC should apologise to the British and American public as well.

As far as his compensation request. He can shove that where the sun doesn’t shine. An apology is more than enough.

The BBC should make a charitable donation though. This money should come out of the future pay packs of the board members including those that recently resigned to teach themselves a lesson.

Next time they try to mislead people they’ll hopefully think again.

  23. I don’t really understand what grounds for compensation there are, in the sense that he didn’t suffer any loss as a result. At the end of the day he won the next election – you can’t claim that the foreign documentary harmed you when you literally became president.

However, the BBC is completely in the wrong here, it’s a ridiculous fuck up – most likely due to sheer incompetence. With one controversy after the other, I kinda feel like it’s had it’s had its day

  24. It’s amazing that a man who blatantly lies every single day (like literal provable lies), can throw a fit when somebody else does it. 🤣

The BBC is 100% wrong with what they did, they should leave the lies to GBnews. But there’s no way Trump gets a payout from them

  25. He doesn’t give a toss about BBC he only cares about his image and always picks fights with weak people

  26. YouHaveAWomansMouth on

I think the BBC should refer Trump to Private Eye’s response in the case of Arkell v Pressdram.

  27. JoeyJoJoeJr_Shabadoo on

I’m trying to remember a time when I read the news in the morning and it wasn’t all “stories” about something that a politician is potentially _preparing to say_.

How about we go back to just reporting on the things that _have happened?_ That was a nice time.

  28. TellMeManyStories on

“don’t worry, we’ll just tariff everything from the BBC till we’ve collected $1B from them”.

“Oh? They don’t make much? Well just tariff all British goods instead then”

  29. This was a deliberate misrepresentation of a speech and the BBC and anybody that supports them over these actions should be ashamed. They will keep doing it until they’re made to pay for it. People should be fired for this and compensation is due.

  30. The felon steals money from anyone he can. BBC did what they did. But dont willingly give money to a felon.
