While shopping at Migros, I noticed US entrecôte with some eye-opening label disclosures. The packaging states the meat ‘may have been produced with hormonal performance enhancers’ and ‘may have been produced with non-hormonal performance enhancers, like antibiotics.’
I was surprised to see this in Switzerland, where we pride ourselves on animal welfare and food quality standards and where those products are banned in domestic production.
The label is transparent, but wtf!
Does anyone else check these labels?

Nothing new with american meat. Don’t know why it’s in stores or bought.
Yummyy, PFAS beef. Chlorinated chicken when?
Why would you even buy US beef?
So… I really don’t get what you’re complaining. They are not hiding anything.
I was about to buy it. Saw the US.. and put it back.
Out of all things, why do they need to fly cow meat over the ocean? There’s so many cows here.
Get ready for more US hormone beef and ammonia chicken after the tariff deal! Yeeehaw!
Migros, why I’m not surprised…
Meat from US at 70 fr. per kg.
And I get told I should not buy meet over the border from a local butcher at a third of the price to support the Swiss business…
Well it’s labeled quite properly ‘US’ really sticks out.
that is so fucking disgusting. thanks for posting, they really brought that in under the hand and try to set up shop.
I identify the meat I will buy with the IP Suisse logo
American here… I can’t blame you for not wanting to buy this. Our house doesn’t usually buy from our major retailers, which is at best what this compares to. There are several local meat markets here that all source from local farms with a way better product. The quality difference is night and day.
Nice to know but if you look closely, there’s meat from “all around the world” already. Not sure brazilian chicken is better.
But why is it expensive? Its literally trash compared to our quality standards
I only have one question : why the fuck?
I agree with OP, this crap meat has no place on Swiss shelves. And to all the people saying “well it’s labeled so what’s the problem?”, you’re missing the point.
We have standards on our domestically produced meat for a reason. If you allow sub-standard meat to be sold side by side, then what’s the point of having the quality standards in the first place?
I have no issue with imported meat, but there needs to be regulations that ensure the same controls and restrictions are applied to the imported meat.
By allowing this crap on the shelves it’s directly competing with the good quality meat and may encourage domestic farmers to follow suit to remain competitively priced.
Well if nobody buys, there is no market.
Saw it myself today.I passed through a food belt in US a few months ago. The smell on the highway along the cattle farms was unbearable. Wouldn’t feed that meat to a dog. Hopefully consumers do not support.
Thanks for the warning. Up until now I rarely bothered to read labels. About to change that.
Is the price any better?
Spot the USA bots…
Let’s be like the canadians and boycott all that shit.
I don’t understand why people still shop at Migros…
Ew
Asked AI what’s 960A. That’s sad if true …
Beef Warning Issued Over Potentially Deadly Contamination – Newsweek
US 960A beef refers to beef products from Greater Omaha Packing, which was the subject of a public health alert in April 2024 due to potential E. coli O157:H7 contamination. The affected products had the establishment number “EST. 960A” inside the USDA mark of inspection, a “Use/Freeze by” date of April 22, 2024, and were produced on March 28, 2024. The alert advised consumers not to eat the beef and to either throw it away or return it to the place of purchase.
It’s time to make the US go broke
I’ll bet you this is because Switzerland wants lower tariffs on Swiss imports to the US.
