Hello,

situation from Thursday morning. I’m sitting on the sofa in my room and suddenly there’s a hissing noise and a pile of smoke coming from the desk. I open the drawer and there is fire like a flare on a cake from a power bank. It lights up for a while and then turns off again. Without thinking, I pulled the drawer out of the desk and ran with it to the balcony. On the balcony, in a break between the flames, I grabbed the power bank with the multitool and took it outside.

Even though the room was aired, it stinked until the evening. There’s a lot of soot, the drawer and the desk were a bit burnt, one disk was badly burned, only the long casing and the Raspberry Pi suffered a bit.

I will add that the powerbank has been lying nicely in a drawer for a long time. The last time I took it on holiday was in July, but I didn’t use it, I just took it for everything. He had no contact with any moisture. The temperature in the room is 25 degrees. Next to it there were disks in cases and cables.

If it had happened 10 minutes later, it would have probably burned down my house because I would have been on my way to school with my daughter.

It honestly scared me because there are 18650 cells, which are popularly used in many products, and it made me think because batteries are everywhere: in phones. on the wrist in the watch, in the ears in the headphones :/

The model is Adata 10050 purchased in 2020 from RTV Euro. https://www.euro.com.pl/powerbanki/adata-a10050-10050-mah-srebrny.bhtml

    1. Brzmi jakby bateria była wadliwa albo powerbank miał wewnętrzne zwarcie.

      > Adata
