Little wooden punks of nature

Here are some Sunday fun facts inspired by the woodpecker in my garden. Attention tl;dr :

• Their head is like a shock absorber, they can hit a tree 20 times a second without getting a concussion. That’s why, as far as I understand, that one "safety helmet" made up of bones and muscles.

• Their tongue is almost twice as long as their body.

• They have a third eyelid like a wiper or eye shield.

• They don’t sing, they fucking drum. They are guided by the rhythm, how they hit, how they show "bro, this is my neighborhood".

• Their hearts can literally explode with ferocity. About 400 beats per minute.

• They are the saviors of the forest. Wherever they make a hole, squirrels, birds, even some insects can settle there later.

• Females are passionate about crafty peckers, not to pecker over the ****, but properly! If he makes a bad hole, the female looks and moves on.
