      A comet that is likely much, much older than our solar system has spent months traipsing through Earth’s cosmic neighborhood. And at long last, NASA has unveiled an unprecedented look at the object, named 3I/ATLAS.

      And no, it’s not an alien spaceship.

      A trove of photos the U.S. space agency dropped reveal fascinating new characteristics of 3I/ATLAS, which has captured the public’s attention since it was first spotted at the beginning of July by a ground telescope in Chile. The visitor, which is on an unusual trajectory taking it momentarily through our solar system, has made waves as just the third-ever interstellar interloper originating from another star discovered in our backyard.

      No one but Avi Loeb thinks it’s an alien spaceship. And he probably doesn’t even really think that. He’s just using the press coverage do garner some fame.

      It’s bizarre that you have to *actively* reject stupid hypotheses these days. (But then again you still have to actively declare yourself to be an atheists in some countries, so…whatevs)

      The fact that it’s the 21. century, we’re achieving all these mindboggling things in science and yet we still have to print “Officials reject alien spaceship theory” in the title of a report about a comet is…embarrassing

      I really don’t care if it is aliens or not but I’m always ready to come up with some bizarre theory to flex my mind and entertain people. Like for example it was in fact an interstellar spacecraft that came to collect observers from the Earth because they came to a final conclusion that the humankind will not gonna pass through the Great Filter.
