Keeping prices low by not paying their employees so they can apply for food stamps instead.

Wage theft and market capture by undercutting the competition until gaining a near monopoly…

Any chance there’s a graphic showing the difference in income payouts between store employees and those sitting in Bentonville?

Somewhere in there is my generous up to 5% raise and up to $350 bonus. Thanks, Walmart!

I love how other income is driving the growth in earnings but everyone acts like Walmart is knocking it out of the park. Overall core business is down YoY

$177 billion in sales, damn
Same GDP as Guatemala or Lithuania

25% margin is kinda impressive tbh

So what’s the source of the “Other Income” bucket?

What the hell is “other profit” that just comes out of nowhere?

TIL that people think Revenue is the same as Gross Profit.

Would really like to see what generates the revenue. For example a massive part is from groceries. Be nice to see that broken out.
Same for expenses.

What’s included in cost of sales? Paying the senior management?

What’s the difference between operating expenses and cost of sales?

These graphs are interesting. I wish they would specifically show CEO salaries on the right side.

I’m spit balling from conversations and a little googling, but their margins are >5% and they have a LOT of loss leaders that you wouldn’t expect (priced below market just to get people in the door).
Meanwhile, they pay the people up top a lot. A LOT. Those layoffs you hear about every year is one way to keep Operating Expenses down.
I’ve always said that the only way to lift up the paychecks of the people on the bottom, is to skim it from the people on top… and that’s never going to happen.

Their “other profit” and taxes cancel out. Perfect! I’m sure there is a logical reason I’m not informed enough to understand. But it SEEMS odd. Its odd. Can we say its odd at least?
