Banter in schools was like Jay from Inbetweeners. There was no bantz with that one kid who banged on about communism or nazis.
Garbage story and just a smear. 50 years ago this supposedly happened, only saying stuff now. Total bullshit.
Those reunions have got to be awkward.
But yeah, if loads of your classmates come out 50 years after you were in school claiming you’re an asshole, I tend to believe them.
Lots of people make mistakes at school, but we grow up and move on, and hopefully our peers forgive our youthful indiscretions.
But we don’t make careers out it.

It’s awkward for Farage as he can’t come out and say he made mistakes but was young and is a changed person who abhors racism as 1) that is patently not true and 2) for a large part of his base, the racism is the point.
The problem is for another part of his base, cheering on Hitler at school is not going to play well given that standing up to the Nazis has been entwined in this country’s national identity for the last 70 years.
I guess him lying some more made people angry. Good on them
So that’s it? All they have on Farage is he may or may not have said something as a child.

The letter from the teacher at the time is the most telling. It wasn’t 1970’s school edgy banter.
The thing is people don’t care. It’ll be hand waved away. Just like his Russia ties. He’s learned from Trump. Don’t apologise, front it out and belittle your opponents.
Unfortunately I think it works.

If they wanted to humanise him and make him more electable, this kind of nonsense is exactly the way to do it.
I’ve come from the left (Old Labour) to support Reform, and my old man has come from the from the right (Old Tory).
Its been very unifying for our family unit after a lifetime of political disagreement.
I’m sorry but I just can’t bring myself to give a shit about comments the man made half a century ago. Criticise him for the ideas he espouses today, god knows he gives you enough ammo to work with.

It’s appears clear to me that Farage is lying here as when challenged by journalists about this issue, when issuing his denial he looks like a rabbit caught in headlights…..
Why is this only coming out now? They’ve had years, notably the Brexit referendum era, to make/highlight this point.
It’s so incredibly cringe worthy seeing how many people here are trying to gaslight us into thinking Farage behaviour was just boys being boys.
His behaviour is disgusting and disturbing. Targeting and bullying peers on race telling Jews that Hitlers was right, hissing gas chsmber noises and calling other kids “Pakis”. Singing Hitler Youth songs.
I recall noone in my school behaving like this, it is not normal. Not the bullys. Noone! It is psychopathic and evil behaviour. No empathy! No remorse!
What did his parents/grandparents do in the war? I cannot imagine being like this and my grandparents who lived through the war finding out. They would be horrified! I recall my Nan telling me how Hitler was evil. Family of ours like most families died in the war. Why TF are we looking at voting in someone like this?
