Today I read that KM Malta Airlines was ranked fifth in a global airline survey, supposedly scoring higher than Emirates and Lufthansa. Honestly, I find that impossible. Based on my own experience, KM Malta is the worst airline I’ve ever flown with — and I’ve flown with many.

What do you all think? Did someone pay for that ranking? hahaha

    There’s definitely money involved.  I wouldn’t trust this government with any statistic tbh.

  4. The survey was made by AirHelp. Their ranking is based on “on time performance” and “customer satisfaction”, or in other words, how many claims has AirHelp opened against it.

    Since the airline is tiny and barely a few years old, and operates mostly out of secondary airports where delays are only due to weather (which are not claimable), and most customers being Maltese who tend to moan a lot but never actually claim, or when they do they would claim directly to the airline rather than going through AirHelp, there’s no doubt AirHelp has very few claims against it, hence the high ranking.

    You can bend statistics any way you want.

    KM has been decent and on time for my 6 flights with them this year. Lufthansa is most definitely shittier than KM, 1000%. Lufthansa took the super low budget route and has been commensurately shit ever since.

    Haven’t used Emirates in a while, but they sure used to be better than KM. Maybe their service has gone to shit or maybe they’ve had a lot of delays.

  6. Well Lufthansa *is* shit. Ma kellix flight waħda li hi waħda tajba magħhom. Customer service is even worse. Last one was being stranded in Switzerland at 1am because I missed a connecting flight because of a delay in the first flight – one through ticket my ass. I was promised a night in a hotel, I was given a foam mattress after I fought how I wasn’t going to sleep on the floor. Poor dude was the only one available to help and seemed as lost as I was cuz nobody told him about me even though I made sure to inform them prior to embarking. Flight was 6 hours later and by then I hadn’t slept more than a few bad hours. I swore I’ll never use them again, and I didn’t for the past 7 years.

  7. I understand I don’t know all the politics around KM Malta, but the 2 flights I took with them in June of 2025 in Business class were 2 of the best flights in terms of food and service that I’ve ever taken. I was pleased.

  8. I’ve flown a lot of Lufthansa and since covid the experience has been at the same level as km, if not worse.
