Bribed, they bribed Gething. Companies don’t donate money because they truly believe in the values of a politician, they do it because they can alter the behaviour of the politician to increase their profit.

£200k for an internal leadership vote? It is just beyond ridiculous that anyone involved didn’t realise this was dodgy. They didn’t care though – just saw the £s.
That is only half of it though. The company got a £400k loan from the department Gething oversaw – they then donated £200k to him!

>”We are really struggling to find any dirt on the Labour Party for the election. Can’t we dig anything out?”
>”What about that story from Wales a few months ago about Vaughan Gethin?”
>”Wait, isn’t that old news? I thought he’d already addressed this in the Welsh Parliament and the matter was settled?”
>”Well then let’s just call our friends in the BBC and get them to rerun it. Let’s milk it for all it’s worth!”
