  1. Getting a 403 error (not seen that for a long while) anyone give me thu highlights beyond the headline

Wonder how that is going to work with children. I imagine a not insignificant number of nurses have caring responsibilities that can’t just be kicked out the window

  3. Must be awful for the Nottingham workers striking, whilst their jobs get moved to South Yorkshire

  4. So they’re effectively turning 1/6 of their working year into an extra long commute?

But they’ll get extra holiday time, travel pay and other costs, right?

Bassetlaw hospital is about 14 miles from Doncaster Royal Infirmary. I can see both sides of the argument but working at that hospital the nurses tell me they think it’s a way for the trust to move this unit away from the hospital full stop.

I wish these guys all the best. We went on strike over a similar thing and they moved us anyway

  7. If concerns about travel time and increased costs can be overcome I don’t see a problem here.

The trust sees more flexibility amongst its staff which has to be good for diversity. skills range and breadth of experience.

The staff, if they have any curiosity and see the job as more than an unwelcome duty, will benefit for the same reasons. It will be good for networking, and seeing better job opportunities.

People really don’t like change do they?

My work decided they would move to another location but didn’t bother asking anyone what they thought. They moved 30+ miles away and no one could realistically afford to commute that distance or even want to. One person is 50 miles out. In the end they now have two sights. Brain dead decisions I swear.

    >The Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust (DBTH) – which runs both hospitals – argues sending the nurses to work at Doncaster will help them “have the specialist skills required to care for the sickest patients”.

They really are trying to make this out as much worse than it actually is. It’s the same trust to begin with and it’s pretty common to have to work in a hospital nearby.

The commute is 1:30 on public transport and 30 minutes in the car. They are pretty standard commutes.
