  1. Very clickbaity headline. This happened in February, the news is that some of the people were sentenced.

Violent disorder is what got the Southport rioters the heavy sentences.

These sentences don’t seem very heavy… Lot of suspended sentences.

35 arrests and no indication what the motivation behind all this was?

I feel like you can extend batter to beating someone with a baseball bat but once you reach machete level it’s no longer a battering.

Oh. Just off Gibbet Street. I heard stories about that area from a young lady in the 90s.

  6. Why is this getting so many downvotes, shouldn’t 35 people attacking each other on the street with machetes be big news?!

This is crazy that it’s happening in the UK, I thought we were meant to be a civilised country…

  7. The actual headline: “Halifax street chaos as 35 people **hack** each other with machetes, wooden planks, and baseball bats”

Indeed… “batter” isn’t the verb that comes to mind with a noun like “machete”.

  8. It would be prejudice of me to assume who would do something like this so ill check…oh it is what i assumed.

Best thing to do is downvote me for mentioning it, pop our heads back in the sand and get on without day
