The thing is what happens when (not if) our peacekeeping forces start coming home in coffins.
Will their friends and family still support us joining a conflict we were never involved in? This could end up as a massive political own goal and Farage is betting on it.
Of course he did otherwise the cheques wouldn’t clear.
I dont know anyone in the army that wouldn’t want to go to Ukraine. Sure beats 6 months in Estonia and you never know, they might actually see some action, something they’re trained for and something they want.
It’s also, imo, the right thing to do.
Polanski is for stationing British troops in Ukraine though, right?
What should we call him –
Red Nige / Commie Nige / Soviet Farra ?
I honestly don’t know why they’ve gone so hard on the racist schoolboy stuff and not the being bought and paid for by a hostile foreign power. Good it’s getting some traction now at least.
Wait, so he can do a job he’s paid for? That means ignoring his constituents and not turning up IS wilful negligence and not incompetence.
If you want to put troops in Ukraine you should be first in line to go yourself.
If i find myself agreeing with this am I Russian parrot?
“It would be a very interesting vote. I would vote against,” said Farage, who is one of five Reform MPs. “We neither have the manpower nor the equipment to go into an operation that clearly has no ending timeline.”
He added: “If the coalition of the willing was eight, 10, a dozen countries and we could rotate battalions through then I might well say, ‘Yeah, absolutely let’s do it’. As it is, it will be us and the French completely exposed for an unlimited period of time.”
Can we just throw him in prison for 10 years already and be done with it?
I hate that this discussion doesn’t have any nuance whatsoever. You either want maximalist positions or you’re a Russian stooge.
I bet they’re are millions of British people who don want British troops on the ground in Ukraine but some people can’t even believe this position exists and think having that opinion makes you a bot or a stooge.
For what it’s worth the UK government isnt even suggesting boots on the ground without Russian agreement as part of a peace deal and American security guarantees which I highly doubt we will receive under Trump.
This whole thing is a non starter.
One more Guardian article and Farage will surely be finished
I don’t want uk troops in Ukraine either.. but they are already there?
Seems to me in would be extremely democratic to ask the population what they think?
But that’s not what’s going to happen… because the Uk would vote against going to war with Russia!
the common men will die in the mud while reaping non of the rewards as usual.
He’ll say anything for cash.
Remember when he said the IRA thing?
Never seen Reddit so war hungry, guessing everyone here is ready for the front lines
I can tell you now, as a soldier in the British army, that Farage is spot on. We’re so understrength and under equipped it’s criminal. A deployment anywhere is just completely unrealistic currently.
Why is there a trend of having a critical view of the Russia-Ukraine War means you’re a Russian asset?
Does anyone else find it amazing that the 1% top commenters are always in favour of Farage and downplay any notion of him being on Russia’s payroll?
He’s only parroting Kremlin lines as he has no original thoughts in his brain.
Are you people actually suggesting UK troops should be deployed to Ukraine? Why? How is the UK related to this in any way? Feels like only a couple of politicians have common sense left Farage & Orban and a couple others who are actually looking for peaceful solutions rather than needless bloodshed.
