As some of you know, I launched freemalta.com about 5 days ago. Since then, I’ve been working on what I believe is the most useful Tax and Employment Guide for our community.

In my 12 years here, I’ve seen so many people lost when it comes to taxes, social contributions, and leave entitlements. The problem is that most accounting firms and consultants talk to you like you’re already a tax expert.

They make it complicated; sometimes on purpose, just to get leads.

I wanted to change that. I’ve tried to explain everything like we’re talking over a coffee, you know simple, clear, and honest.

What’s in the new edition:

• Detailed Tax Rates & FAQ: Who is eligible for what, without the headache.
• Social Contributions: Exactly how much is being deducted from your paycheck.
• Leave Entitlements: Vacation leave, bereavement leave, COLA, etc.
• Digital Nomads: Eligibility criteria and the specific rates you need to know.
• 2026 Parent Rates: Explaining the upcoming changes for parents and how payroll adjustments will work (it’s a bit of a mess for employers right now!).

I’ve put a lot of heart into this to make sure it’s a "one-stop shop" for everyone living and working in Malta.
