I think most babies are more well-natured by far than Trump. And of course babies by definition cannot be pedophiles, unlike him.

Like watching a toddler throw tantrums, except the toys are trade deals and nuclear codes.

    3. While I agree with the sentiment, I feel obliged to point out that Dagens Nyheter is not a serious news outlet. They are infamous for using ”agenda setting journalism” which is basically just admitting to being an ideological propaganda outlet.

    4. Trump is just the frontman, there’s a whole team of advisors behind him and much more dangerous than him.

The first to be in danger is the United States, by the way.

Everyone needs to understand the guy has frontotemporal dementia and all of its symptoms. He’s the figure head but the country is also being run by Stephen Miller and the writers of Project 2025. It’s so much worse than him being a “giant baby”. He’s a crazed eighty year old man with nuclear codes.

    6. I’ve never seen a baby rapist or pedophile yet. But its true that Trump throws more tantrums than my 2yo daughter….

      # Lisa Magnusson: This is the problem of having a giant baby as the leader of the free world

      # Formally, of course, it is not possible to pass on the Nobel Peace Prize. But Donald Trump grins contentedly, like a spoiled brat who managed to buy a diploma he didn’t deserve.

María Corina Machado has dedicated her life to the freedom of Venezuela. And she has paid a high price for her fight against the rule that has gradually consolidated its power into a dictatorship: in 2024, her party, Vente Venezuela, won the election, but the incumbent president, Nicolás Maduro, refused to accept his loss and threatened to imprison her. She was forced to go underground.

She has sometimes resorted to unconventional, if not controversial, political methods: Among other things, she has leaned on the President of the United States, Donald Trump, despite the fact that he himself has clearly authoritarian tendencies, and despite the fact that he – like Nicolás Maduro – has tried to steal for himself an election victory.

But her goal has always been clear: the end of the dictatorship. And she is humble in exactly the way that usually distinguishes truly great leaders.

**When the Nobel Committee in Oslo** last fall called and announced that she was [2025 Peace Prize recipient](https://x.com/NobelPrize/status/1976596971084247228) was she quick to emphasize the movement instead: ”My God. I’m speechless… But I hope you understand that… I’m just *one* person, I really don’t deserve this.”

We find the opposite in Donald Trump. Boastful, vain, self-glorifying. A giant baby, who does what occurs to him, who refuses to respect the rules of the game and loyalties carefully built up to guarantee peace in particular, yes who does not seem to realize the value of the free world he is now the leader of at all.

He openly campaigned to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, and when he was then forced to settle for perhaps the strangest consolation prize ever – The International Football Federation Fifa instituted a peace prize and gave it to him –, it soon leaked that he had made demands that the dent be as big as the World Cup dent, at least, and that there should be marines on stage during the ceremony.

**Many may have thought** that some kind of bottom was reached with this spectacle. But not. Because since Donald Trump ordered the American military to arrest Nicolás Maduro, María Corina Machado has offered to pass on his own peace prize to him. Formally, this is of course not possible. But he grins contentedly, like a spoiled brat who did not deserve a diploma, but managed to buy one from a less well-off classmate.

”A fantastic gesture of mutual respect”, he calls it

And it’s clear – the plaque’s gold shines just as much regardless of which wall it hangs on. But this remains the problem of having a giant baby as the leader of the free world: Everything not only gets worse, but also constantly a little dumber, a little more unworthy and embarrassing..

    8. It’s not just Trump it’s the US as a whole. Half of them are sitting on their backsides doing nothing and the other half are clapping.

    9. Why are these people pandering to this man.by giving peace prizes and golden gifts its sickening spectacle to see .he’s not a president to be proud of .he’s interference the countries around the world. Shows no bounds he’s like a child accepting gifts. Are thy happy to be around a convicted felon and rapist and fraudsters.

    10. “Everything is not only getting worse, but also constantly a little dumber, a little more unworthy and embarrassing.”

The 21st century in a nutshell.

    11. The Nobel clunker story is a nice funny anecdote. The problem is that he is under blackmail for being a rapist. The problem is that the groups behind him are building an authoritarian feudal world. The problem is that his administration uses aggression and threats inside and outside the country to get it’s way.

    12. What is this “in charge of the free world” BS?? He’s “in charge” of the US (hardly “free”), and that’s it. It’s embarrassing how our media keep parroting US self-declaration PR as if they were facts. Geesh

    13. United States used to be that rich uncle who paid for everything.

President Trump changed that, and the grifters are complaining.

    14. CharacterCompany7224 on

I would put money the republicans blame dementia on why he’s acted like this during his presidency and claim he didn’t do anything wrong due to health issues to prevent him from ever having to face consequences. I mean this shit is so predictable at this point.

Trump isn’t a giant baby, he’s a lolcow. Unfortunately, his actions don’t damage himself but all of us.

    17. assertgreaterequal on

The real problem is that all the EU leaders can do is literally crying and calling him daddy. This is beyond pathetic. Not a single person who can tell Trump to his face what they actually think about him. Plus zero leverage on the tariff and annexation threads. How the fuck it is even possible that the whole Western world became so dependent on one country?

    18. America isn’t even a country with freedom! freedom is just a lie their people somehow believe! a shithole country with out of control capitalism making the whole globe a worse place to live. FUCK AMERICA!

    19. The Nobel Committee must stop assigning prizes to idiots who do not even bother to collect them, like Bob Dylan, and others who give them away, like Marina Machado.

    20. Junior-Lychee2755 on

I really doubt she said it that way. Nobody except Americans think of America as “leader of the free world”. We simply don’t like such bombastic words.

    21. They should start by sanctioning and fining the billionaires who contributed to this in their own countries.  Money talks, boycotts work.
Edit: and Europe should shut down their fascism networks. They are feeding ours.  All of those scientists and fascists they didn’t punish after WWII fled here. It’s a world problem,  like a disease.

    22. What is this “free world” and can we get some of that? Just asking for some of my American friends…

    23. mathias_verraes on

You can’t call someone the leader of the free world if the actual free world didn’t get a vote in the matter.

    24. Admiral_Ballsack on

I really wish we all stopped to use the formula “in charge of the free world”.

US isn’t leading shit right now, and sure as fuck I’ve never felt like they were leading me before Trump.

    25. wannaseeawheelie on

The “free world” isn’t so free unless you’re rich. Excuse me, I gotta get back to work so I don’t lose my terrible health insurance plan

Many of these European leaders didn’t even bother to condemn Trump when he kidnapped Maduro in a blatant breach of international law and then threatened to do the same thing to Gustavo Petro.

They have been appeasing Trump for ages, including with the trade agreement, where the concessions were disproportionately on the European side and were made to avoid higher tariffs.

Hopefully, European leaders are waking up to Trump’s true colours and the fact that appeasement is the wrong strategy.
