Why does the taxpayer always have to fork out money for losses incurred by businesses? It’s not like they share profits with us when things go well. And don’t be naive and tell me that they pay taxes. Remember what Caruana said recently about how restaurants rarely declare profits.

Why didn’t anyone prepare? We were told don’t go to work and don’t take out the trash! In any other country people, the government and business owners would make some precautions to protect their properties.

  2. I read an article about that Ghar lapsi restaurant owner that claimed that “god decided to wash everything away”. Sorry mate, that restaurant was built into a rockface less than a meter from the sea, probably illegal and had no protection in place aside from iron doors, god had nothing to do with it.

so we are paying for owners ignorance when they decided not to have insurance. in a civilized county you can’t conduct a business without mandatory insurance.

Because businesses cry foul when the govt pushes for better working conditions and better pay screaming market forces and government overreach at the top of their lungs, but become socialists overnight when they need money from the same government. Also, our current “socialist” leaders are the biggest pro business government we’ve ever had.
