A study out of South Korea shows “mesenchymal stem cells” can regrow cartilage in the knee. Hopefully they can confirm the results in a larger trial.

So hopefully they’ll do a larger phase 3 trial and confirm the results.

But you may have seen this one recently. The Mayo Clinic did a study where they took 10 paralyzed patients and sucked some of their belly fat out and then isolated mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) from the belly fat. Then they injected the mesenchymal stem cells into their spine and one man regained the ability to walk. But most of them experienced some kind of improvement in their symptoms. The Mayo Clinic is now conducting a larger trial to confirm the results.
