It’s sad that everything around D-Day has been overshadowed by this incredibly inept and useless man.
Veterans who may not be here for the next milestone have been overshadowed, who have also expressed how deeply insulting it was for him to disappear stating “Oh I was here for the British part” for a very international event of remembrance where nationalism was the problem not the solution. He’s so tone deaf and stupid.
Hopefully he’s out of the job after the elections, and can finally just sod off to the US like he intended. A traitor to his people and his allies.

He should be excused since D-day is not popular among Indians. Its not cricket, innit?

It’s weird that the press just kinda picks something and that’s what a politician is crucified for. With Miliband it was that bacon sandwich, Boris had his garden party and now it is Sunak’s turn with this.
I really wish that Sunak killing a lot of people with ‘Eat Out To Help Out’ was the reason he was bad, not doing something that didn’t actually meaningfully hurt anyone. This country is catching up to the US when it comes to veteran obsession.

How hard it is to say “Yes, I fucked up.”? Man’s already having a PR disaster, so it is not like admitting your mistake is going to make things worse than they are.
At least this will have annoyed elderly people and overly patriotic people with this incident. Anything that damages the Tories’ chances of winning is a good thing.

While this clearly was a massive own goal, the opposition are also clearly milking this for their own gains

I get the impression that he really does not care about the result now and already has one eye on his post-PM life in America
