Hey folks. Since my last post kinda blew up, I figure I should report back on my findings (from your recommendations, of course).
Yesterday I checked out Mama Bear in Flemington and was very impressed. The atmosphere was very chill and not too busy (9am on a Saturday). The service was friendly and very fast, and I barely had time to start my coffee before my meal turned up. The “Big Mama”, their breakfast with the lot, was very tasty and filling without being overwhelming (the chorizo and crispy kale bits were a nice touch). I will definitely be back to peruse the rest of the all-day menu. Four and a half crispy kale bits out of five.

Wow! I used to work for Mama Bear when they opened 15+ years ago… no longer in hospo and no longer living in the area so good to see they’re still around. Not sure if the owners are the same, but thought they were great people at the time.
Been there a couple of times back when I lived in Flemington. Great Cafe!
Not big on chorizo but I love when they serve leaner Bacon. You dont see it much so I rarely order it when out.
Cost ?
Mama Bear made the best latte I’ve ever had about 10 months ago and I find myself hoping I get more clients in that area so I have an excuse to pop by again 😂
My partner and I have been together almost 10 years and we shared our first brunch together at Mama Bear and had a nap in the park across the road under a tree.
They have changed hands a few times but the current owners make tasty food.
It is a gorgeous building too.
I can’t get past the visceral reaction I have to seeing a muggacino.
Any relation to Papa Bear in Eltham?
I used to call in here for my morning coffee. Good cafe!
