My boss wanted us to go into the office for a meeting. I said nah, she insisted, I said ok.
      I’m not going.

Hang out at the Library, National Gallery or a massive shopping centre. Take a book and a big water bottle

    3. aircon, wet tshirt, ice cold water and blinds closed. stay as safe as possible in this weather, coming from someone in a fire prone area lol

Curtains. Drink water. Get things done early in the day before it gets hot if you can.

Libraries and other air conditioned places are useful spaces.

Cardboard any windows that don’t have curtains, if you have external blinds close those as well as curtains

    6. Everyone else can work from home, but teachers have to go in, when there aren’t kids there. Moronic.

Corporates. Are we all working from home tomorrow? Genuinely asking. I don’t know if to brave it in if no one is going to be there.

    8. Stop using Accuweather – despite the name, whatever model they use for the Melbourne area is often way off. It’s not BOM data.

WillyWeather, Windy or even the BOM app are all better options.

15 day forecast is misleading too, the confidence in the predictions that far out is so low that it’s not particularly useful. Especially with a model that is garbage for here to begin with.

My husband’s workplace has told them to work from home unless absolutely necessary as their systems won’t handle the heat

Blankets over the windows. You can tack them in up the top and down the bottom of the window frame and the landlord will never know.

Put a wet towel over your clothes horse and the put a fan in front of that for bogan evaporative cooling

Soak your feet in a bucket of cold water if you start overheating.

Worst case, go sit at the shopping centre, library or club to stay cool.

    11. Archspire just HAD to be on one of the hottest days of my life, going to be dying in that pit bro

    12. Stay inside, keep house dark (blinds drawn), block doors with towels (like in winter), drink water and apple juice (need electrolytes), add extra salt to food to replace what is lost by sweating, keep air con on, use fans.

If you don’t have air con then keep your fans on, put your feet in a bucket of cold water, put wet washcloths in the freezer for 30 minutes and put them on your neck.

~~change your clocks, change your smoke alarm batteries~~ nah, wrong one.

Topping up the water for the birds with fresh, cool water? Spray your A/C’s compressor. It’ll improve performance and draw less power.

Brunswick Baths are staying open until 11pm tomorrow. Check your local pool’s social media, other councils might be doing the same.

    15. The first tip is to use a weather app that’s actually accurate. Accu Weather is not accurate in Australia. Use BoM.

While it’s gonna be hot, I’d encourage people to use BOM, Weatherzone or WillyWeather if you’re posting about Melbourne weather. AccuWeather is based overseas and its data is often wrong
