One thing I’m grateful for is that Miles O’Brien was the primary CNN anchor the Saturday morning of the Columbia disaster. As CNN’s main science reporter he steered the coverage using his knowledge of Space Shuttle flight operations so he was able to shoo away knee-jerk theories and correct any dodgy info coming in that day.

Edit time! I know today is the Challenger anniversary but the article linked is by Miles O’Brien. My comment is about Miles O’Brien and his coverage of the Columbia accident and it’s importance. He was just a local station reporter in 1986 which he mentions in his article.
