I didn’t have an induction top before I moved to Poland. When I cooked in the initial days, I spilled some milk over the still hot glass. I wiped it off but it sort of just burned in and never came off since then. I’ve tried using some cleaners but I don’t think they do much to some of the stains which are boiled into the glass. I think some of these stains are from before I moved in, but I can’t be sure. Is there any chemical I could get locally to get this glass to look cleaner than this?

  1. Get some Elbow Grease, it should bring it back to a decent state. I usually scrub it in with a sponge and let it sit for a few minutes and then wipe it off. Glass spray once you’re done to bring back some shine.

Edit: Also, Bar Keepers Friend is a good, if not better choice as well if you can find it locally.

  2. That will 100% come off. Get a better cleaning product, let it soak, scrub with a rag until you’re tired. You can also get a little scraper tool for induction tops, but I think try again without that first

You can also consider a baking powder and vinegar rinse

  3. Does it get red, when you are using it? Then it is not induction, but heat type and will probably be really hard to scrub.

  4. Not usually recommending specific products, but I’ve had great success with Nanomax over the years. Look up “Nanomax do piekarników” and you should see a black/red themed 1L spray bottle for around 25PLN. Some shops have it, the Internet does as well. Spray on, leave for ~30mins, should just wipe off. Not sure how long it was left, you probably should have thought about cleaning it after it cooled down or the day after, YMMV.

Obviously: avoid the countertops, it’s pretty aggressive and might do more damage. Use gloves, do not breathe in, don’t drink, don’t spray in your eyes, etc.

  5. Good tip is to cover the glass with a cleaning product, rub it in with a sponge and then cover the foam with some foil to reduce evaporation. Leave it for 30-60 min and then scrub.

CIF cream + scrub sponge (I’m using scrub daddy) after that some glass cleaner and should be good 🙂

There are ample cleaning products in Carrefour (from my own experience) which can be useful.. I used spray ones which are foam based.. sprinkle all over and after about 3-5mins, scrub gently with paper towels or a sponge all over and repeat the steps if necessary.

Bar of soap and baking soda is usually enough to get rid of the most stubborn burn stains. No specialised chemicals are needed for a regular kitchen in most cases. Cover it in soda powder mixed into a slush with a bit of water, leave to soak for up to couple of hours, scrub in of with a bar of regular soap (glicerine bathing soap won’t do the job) and a rough plastic sponge. Source: I cleaned profesional and home kitchens for a living.

[edit:] cleaning emulsions like Cif or metal utensils can leave scratches, so it’s best to avoid them.

  9. Try Pink Stuff (sometimes at biedronkas, could be in store like teddy or action) or Bar Keepers Friend ( allegro )

Make a solution with citric acid (a glass of water and a small package of citric acid – aka *kwasek cytrynowy*, which you can buy in a grocery), pour it over the top, and let it sit for an hour. Do not let it dry.

The white stains are mineral deposits, most likely alkaline, which should dissolve in a highly acidic solution. Do not combine citric acid or vinegar with baking soda. Such a solution has a neutral pH and is no different than water.

The stain on the right appears to be old burnt fat. Before applying chemicals, cover the top with cloth soaked in the boiling water. Then scrap.

Here you have chemicals you can use; *Tytan* is cheap and effective.

  11. Try with eggshells. Might sound funny, but it works. Eggshell won’t scratch the glass, don’t worry. Share the results after 😀

  12. OP, you will fix that and have some minor scratches only. It’s normal. Use regular cleaning products first, then a scraper that others posted (never use it sideways, use at an angle, it will be fine, don’t worry about the build it lines on the surface, it won’t destroy those).

But… OP, please learn to control your cooking temperature. You boil over a lot, that’s why it’s so dirty. Most of the time you don’t have to use those high settings. Maybe at start to heat up pans first, but honestly if the pan/pot is actually decent it will heat up real fast. The reduce.

Over boiling and huge heat are gas stove habits 🙂 Unfortunately this also means it’s best to clean the surface after each cooking, but it’s worth the trouble.

  13. Look for Clinex Grill, not expensive, available online on the biggest shopping platform in Poland and you will get it in 1-2 days. Do not use scrubbing products.

Once you have it, you will still need to spend maybe even a few hours on cleaning, but it won’t be literally hours of scrubbing. It will be spray, wait, scrub.

I would advise to go to any supermarket or on allegro and look for an oven/grill cleaner (those things are heavy duty!). Get some plastic wrap (folia spożywcza) when you’re at it. When you get home spray the entire top with the cleaner heavily (make sure none gets on the wood countertop!!!) and cover it as tightly as you can with the plastic wrap. Leave overnight. In the morning take the wrap off (again, be careful so it doesn’t spill anywhere and use gloves if you can) and rub it some with a spoon or better yet use the scraper tool that people posted here before. Wipe clean and should be as good as new.

  15. You spilled some milk you say? What about the rest of dirt on the stove? You don’t seem the cleanest person by the looks of it. Every time you leave dirt and cook again it’s going to get worse and worse. You need to clean the stove every time after cooking 😆. There are special cleaning solutions for glass stoves. And if you can’t clean the stains now, after such a long time? Well it’s only your fault for leaving them there in the first place. You’re renting a place and you should clean the place on a regular basis, treat the place like your own place. Since you didn’t care, that’s what the deposit is for I guess.

This is not induction. Induction does not get hot – only from contact with pot. That’s a ceramic burner. Hey used to things getting burned on it.

  17. This looks absolutely filthy, Jesus F Christ. Not only the milk stain but the whole thing looks like it never seen a sponge.

Anyway do not scrub it with anything hard like the tough part of the kitchen sponge. Only with soft clothes, otherwise you’ll make scratches.

    Buy this in Rossmann:

First wipe the plate with wet cloth and then spray it generously with the product above. Leave it to work for about an hour.
Wipe with wet cloth and see if all is gone. If places are still dirty spray then again and leave for an hour.

It should look like new afterwards.

There exist scrapers that hel with this. Those consist of not the sharp aluminium plates and a handle. You gently, but firmly, slide across the surface to remove the dirt.
