  1. Overhead power lines failed resulting in a live wires coming down down. Its a shame but its not something that can be avoided in its entirety, without extremely expensive replacement of the entire electrical system to live rail. Its timmingis poor but doesn’t have anything to do with the new tunnel at all

The narrative about phones from the opposition is absurd, because the overhead wire fault as in an area that has been operating HCMT for years.

  3. Apologising for the delays is one thing, but the concerning part is that there’s been zero acknowledgement of the [emergency door release handle falling straight off](https://www.reddit.com/r/melbourne/comments/1qukzn1/comment/o3bbl0u/) when someone tried to use it.

These are the newest trains on the network that are in current passenger service, the youngest of which only entered service 1.5 years ago. They shouldn’t be falling apart like that.

What if it had been a fire on board? It’s a genuine massive safety concern that it happened…

Oh that’s good. I was really scared our tax dollars were not going to get an apology.

  5. There is some not great stuff in that. Like the signage indicating all trains on time and arriving as usual at Town Hall. I mean, come on. Didn’t check but I’m guessing it’s not too unlikely that the app / maps would be reporting all good as well during this time.

  6. Oh God the facebook boomers will be out in force tonight, it’ll all be related to Dan Andrews and the machete bins somehow

  7. They say this is a rare occurrence but the train line falls every few weeks.

Disgrace given the amount of money pumped into it.

  8. They really need to come up with a better solution than leaving people stuck on trains for 2 hours with no power or air con in the hottest part of the day. Miracle nobody passed out. If it’s not safe to walk on the tracks then another solution needs to be figured out, you can’t just hold people and threaten to arrest them if they leave. Are they really going to stop a paramedic for example walking on the tracks if someone passes out in there?

Id have had a panic attack and passed out tbh. Reasons why i drive instead. Too many random stuck trains, faults, terminating before the destination etc.

  10. Victorias Rail network suffers from trying to be very cheap or implementing systems not because they are better but because they tick a box in the eyes of the people at the top who are completely disconnected from any day to day happenings

the ammount of beuocracy it takes to make anything happen is comical and lots of results are a half baked what could have been

sauce: I work in the industry and many of my friends and colleagues also do in many different areas

  11. The amount of money we have spent on our public travel service and roads only for them to continuously fail on us and people getting stuck 1-2 hours at the very least. One would think we’re in some backward Middle Ages country or something.
