      Don’t get me wrong, I completely agree. But Spain has a coalition government where irrelevant ministries are given to irrelevant parties and I didn’t even know they had a youth ministry.

      Social media has clearly become a problem. Divisiveness is financially incentivized and bad actors are manipulating opinion with propaganda. It needs reform. Legacy media too in reality. In the US, the “local” news has been bought up and controlled.

      I love the government deciding what I can and can’t read for me. Either we’re all children unable to think ourselves and hence democracy should be abolished because children shouldn’t decide the course of the country, or we’re all adults and the government should fuck off and let me decide for myself. Can’t have both without hypocrisy.

      What a total train wreck of a politician.

      She throws morally charged rhetoric like”undemocratic” and “digital caudillous.” This is literally pathetic. Cheap tricks to confuse and distort from reason.

      She says that “flagrant violations of human rights” occurs on X. Ok, then why not prosecute? **There is no official statement from Spanish prosecutors or courts expressing that X itself has committed crimes.**

      In France, it is reported that X is/was investigated for crimes (complicity in possession and distribution of child abuse images, violations of image rights via deepfakes, denial of crimes against humanity). That’s how you do it.

      Spain, like other EU members,is bound by EU laws such as DSA (*Digital Service Act*), which already defines how platforms should manage illegal content. France did it the judiciary way, because the EU is a place of rule of law.

      Spain’s youth minister, however, wants to skip that process and act as judge, jury and executioner, turning straight to political power to call for a ban for a thing she doesn’t approve of. She also got major issues with free speech. With free speech comes hate speech and harassment. Why not ban the entire Spanish language itself then? People say awful things in Spanish too.

      She speaks like a hard-core authoritarian fueled by her own sense of moral superiority.

      However I don’t like Musk I don’t agree with this. It just opens up the door to ban any platform for any political reason from any side if the wind would change. Including Reddit as well.
