> Giving evidence, Mr Abukar’s wife, commercial lawyer Jade Hickey, said her husband was an honest person and she had no doubts he would follow any bail conditions.
> Mr Abukar’s lawyer, Kristy-lee Brilliant, told the court her client had no criminal history, family support and a stable home to live in.
Victoria really needs to go the way of NSW where these kid of personal references have no bearing on crimes. A sex predator that roams around looking for victims is a great husband and father and an absolute pillar of the community when he’s not on a raping spree. F-A-N-TASTIC! Let’s keep holding our rape victims to higher standards that the actual rapists shall we? That sounds like something a reasonable society would do /s

This is so disgusting and scary, as someone who is in their early 20s and goes out around Collingwood, Fitzroy etc. It’s terrifying to think that people can take advantage of a human like that, it’s so disgusting.

Reading the article, the thing that surprised me the most was that a judge denied bail for once.

I wonder if he was alegedly targeting the Peel because LGBTQIA+ victims are less likely to come forward and less likely to be believed. I hate that seems to have worked so far for him and I hope the victims have access to support services and systems, whether they’re up to going through the publicity of a trial or not. It’s a lot to go through either way and they deserve support.

By these apps- meaning rideshare- attracting “rapists”? It’s inflammatory.
99.9% don’t rape and aren’t cunts.

I love when I read the term ‘denied bail’ for serious crimes. There needs to be more of this particularly for serious crimes committed by youths.
