Orbán has launched a new smear campaign against Ukraine and the EU, sending this message by mail to every Hungarian household and displaying it on billboards — costing millions of euros.

  1. There’s a very easy way to get rid of the evil Brussels. I wonder why Viktor Orbán just won’t take it 😀

Probably I do not understand something here – Hungary is NOT a donor country in EU, it actually receives a lot of money from EU every year. So, it doesn’t give anything to Ukraine, right? If yes then does it mean he is basically saying: they (donor countries) are giving THEIR money to Ukraine instead of giving them to you, Hungarians?

(Yes, I know it’s actually “instead of giving them to me and my scumbag buddies robbing Hungary for many years now” but it’s not the point of the question).

  3. It’s time we stopped paying Hungary. They are currently the third highest recipient right now.

  4. **They did this because they are in real danger.**

The main goal is to update their illegal list of voters. Through this, they obtain an accurate list and the home addresses of their own voters. (Because they are the only ones who are going to send it back) This allows them to know whom to mobilize for the election on April 12.

    Magyar (leader of the opposition):

Anyone who opposes the will of the Hungarian people in any way, be they the president of the republic, a secret service agent, or a constitutional court judge, and participates in a constitutional coup, can expect the most serious consequences. The same applies to those who attempt to cause panic around the time of the elections through sabotage, suicide attacks, flying drones, or falsified recordings.

Fascists and billionaires are working worldwide together to destroy us Europeans. We have to stop them.

  6. Just another example of Fidesz spending Hungarian taxpayer money to fearmonger about people taking their money.

  7. Hey, just have a look at UK – Brexit has been a raging success, not – we’re poor as church mice now and everything has turned to shit

We basically took one for the team to demonstrate just what a terrible idea it is to leave the EU

This is so blatantly American smear-campaign politics it is disgusting… 🤢🤢🤢

  9. Politics aside, I like languages that say a lot with few words. I’m assuming the -nek ending means “to” and the first word means “send message”, conjugated so it’s a proposition? I know Finnish can keep adding endings to make one word into a whole sentence, so Hungarian is probably similar.

It’s mostly a form of money laundering. The vast majority of billboards and other ad-selling spaces in Hungary are owned by close friends of Orbán. These campaigns (which have been going on for years) present a technically “legal” way to funnel government money to friends of the autocrat.

The content of these silly propaganda posters matters much the less than the money laundering. Sure, they’re supposed to bolster the regime’s official propaganda, but that isn’t their main point.

  11. I hope the three people on the poster sue the party for unauthorised use of their faces and violation of their personal rights!
