  1. I think it’s either nostalgia bait at this point or just an assumption (probably correct) that the aesthetic of these movies is still more known than the series or author themselves

  2. Movies might get old but their target audience doesn’t. Perfectly reasonable thing to do.

    Also, you just know that they won’t pay any artist for new cover but generate some shitty lion/Jesus in winter scenery amalgamation and call it a day.

    If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

    I used to hate book covers using the movie adaptation. But then I saw book covers made by AI.

  4. They have paid for the licence, so they are going to use it. It probably still differentiates their edition from others.

  5. Tbh I always liked movie book covers and I usually try to buy those when I get the chance. A shame that Harry Potter never got movie covers. I really liked the first ones that we got, but the next one’s are really not for me.

  6. It’s cheaper and much easier to publish reedition, which doesn’t need making another deal with the holder of the copyright, than creating new edition from scratch.
