  1. Whilst it is mainly those on the right pushing this narrative, I have also seen it spouted on this sub by people who are pro EU and in their constant seething about Brexit are determined to paint Britain as some third world hellscape now we’re no longer in the EU.

  2. Turns out it’s quite helpful to make a high-quality debunk video to turn around the narrative

  3. Fearmongering, propaganda and conspiracy theories, the tools of the new far right, funded by Russia and MAGA.

    “Supposed” islamification.

No supposing, it’s just a fact.

Muslims were 8.5% of the population in 2001,12.5% in 2011 and 15% in 2021.

This is once again showing the failure of democracy: no democracy can function when citizens have such a mislead view of reality. How can you have any sort of debate with someone who you can’t agree with on basic facts?

I mean everyone should see that it’s bullshit anyway, it’s all part of the ‘project 2025’ billionaire nonce plan to screw over Britain and Europe

The problem is the narrative about big, scary, London already existed in the mind of simple townies and impoverished northerners – London being the place that somehow gets all the money and resources but is also, apparently, worse than everywhere else in Britain in their minds

  7. This feels a bit disingenuous.

If knife crime before a certain point was extremely low, but increased two or three fold, that’s still a big problem even when the rate of crime is lower than other places.

  8. No, danger isn’t exclusive, it’s in most cities. Uk police took down crime phone gang which accounted for 40% of all robberies of phones and mopeds

  9. Why is the homicide rate relevant, lol? It’s the theft and stealing that is crazy, you can’t even insure a Land Rover in London ffs.

  10. Same as Milan: in every Italian sub many talk like it is Mos Eisley, with people killed in broad daylight.

And when I show that crime rates are falling the responses are “people don’t denounce anymore”. Like in the past people really had this faith in the carabinieri…

  11. I lived in London for 18 years, it got progressively more dangerous. I witnessed multiple muggings, armed robberies and assaults. I called the police many times when it happened. Besides the attitude on the phone from the police, and the indifference, they never fucking showed up and three months later you’d get a follow up that they made a note of the “incident”.

  12. I’ve been at least once a year to London in the last years. Never had a single issue, does it make it the most safe? No but not as dangerous as the city gets depicted. The same can be said of Rome or any other big city.

In America they tend to focus on “Democratic cities” because once they focus on “Democratic states” it all falls apart. Democratic states are all doing better on nearly every measure of life than Republican States.

Cities have more crime than rural areas. Creating a false narrative around a few horrible stories as examples is enough evidence for most.

  14. England being the country of stabbing was a meme like even 10 years ago, no idea why they are comparing some random 2020-24 to 2025 twitter posts, its not like the shanking meme is something new.

  15. I literally just got back today from a week of traveling around London.
We walked around a lot of places in the city.
Of course, just like the alt-right pages say, we got robbed five times and were forced to accept Sharia law several times.
    (lol)

In reality, it’s all such nonsense that it’s not even worth writing about.

And yeah, based on my personal impression, London feels much safer for a foreigner than Warsaw.

  16. More social engineering to con people into trading their rights for the illusion of security.

  17. I never have been in London so can’t confirm but in my company (in Poland) there are two guys from London. They told me they moved to Warsaw because they had enough of shit in London. Both of then said they don’t want go back in next 10 years.

  18. I’m a regular visitor to London. I don’t think it’s dangerous. I’ve neither experienced nor witnessed anything to the contrary.

Also a reminder that the left also had their part to play to an extent. I remember at some point in 2010s, Germans and Swedes were trying to censor crimes committed by asylum seekers. Sweden even stopped sharing images or names of wanted men (you may guess why)

This also contributes to the idea that “the establishment” are out there manipulating you, come to the social media to get the real news.

Many many problems we are facing today have roots in either economic inequality and/or overhanded tactics of the left previously

This is the same justification used to assert authoritarian federal occupation of liberal American cities: Minneapolis, DC, Chicago, LA, Portland. The notable thing to me is the astounding leaps inflammatory posts have made on X since Musk’s takeover. And the surprise that they don’t even need foreign bots to push this garbage anymore. They are literally skewing the algorithm to incite civil unrest if not war for their own ends. If we don’t get social media companies under control soon they will be our demise or at least an enormous contributor.

  21. Course it bloody isn’t. It isn’t perfect but the number of things I see declaring it a demilitarised zone is utterly bizarre. It’s going just fucking fine.

  22. I agree, people should stick to it being a meme and realize that it is a meme that is being taken advantage off.

I just hope that those people spreading those things actually go to London for once in their lives and experience the city. (They will be stabbed)

I used to live in London as a youngster. Skateboarded, partying all over. Ecstacy, all sorts of party drugs. Walked home through dark parks all alone and under the influence. Nothing bad ever happened to me. Not one attempted fight with me or robbery. I am big dude, people sometimes likes to step up to me. None of that. Just lovely vibes. Skated in Brixton a lot, felt at home. South banks. Awesome. London is and always will be remembered fondly by me.

  24. If you’re white and stay in wealthy areas you’ll be fine, shocker.

I personally know 3 Jewish people who have been harassed or straight up assaulted for speaking Hebrew or wearing the star of David necklace

Islamists is only dangerous if you are obviously Arab and live in a self segregated neighborhood full of radical Islamists, and having one of the following traits:

    1. being ex-muslim
    2. being a woman
    3. refuse to cover yourself
    4. having sex outside marriage
    5. refuse to have sex in or outside marriage
    6. not straight

In a community like this, your scream is silence.

  26. The Economist? The one that brands Greece as an economic miracle while it is dead last in all aspects of living?

  27. Meme my ass

Any city where you can’t wear a watch or talk on your phone without a fear of being robbed has a major problem!
